Suggestion:

Support for colored text and/or small icons for characters (Think small face images about the size of discord emotes.)
With the sample uploaded, it's pretty easy telling the characters apart, but I can see it getting pretty chaotic with more characters. It doesn't need to be used in all releases, but having the option would be good.

I'm interested to be one of the first contributors to Drama CDs translation!

Drama CD is really huge in seiyuu-based fandom and galge otaku communities. I really hope this feature to be actually realized soon. Thanks for all the hard works, devs!

EDIT: It's gonna be cool if MangaDex also accept the Japanese transcription :)

It looks cool, but I'm just worried about the fact that we wouldn't be paying for the audio itself, because that part is unedited (which is why I'm more okay with scantlations, as the typeset and redraw pages, aka transform). Anyone mention this before and i just missed them ?

@Teasday I've been meaning to work on the untranslated Mitsudomoe Drama CD tracks for years now, but sadly since I can only translate Japanese once I have it in text form (I'm the machine translator who's been working on the Mitsudomoe manga for 4 years now), I haven't been able to do anything about it since. 😔

If anyone would be interested in working with me to transcript the dialogue, I would be more than happy to make a contribution to "DramaDex" as well. 🙂

I think this new section is a great step towards being able to enjoy media that would otherwise be lost to time.

Probably 99% of the people who would want this wouldn't have my issue and I guess this has more to do with the subbers, so I understand if nothing can be done about it, but I'm deaf so I couldn't tell who was speaking in the sample posted. I "listen" to a lot of drama CDs that are translated and posted on YouTube, and the subbers there generally indicate who's speaking in some way visually. Usually, the video will just name who's speaking or have a picture of who's speaking. Sometimes they just color code the subtitles and I can usually figure out which color belongs to which character eventually.

This sounds like a great idea. But as the person above me has mentioned, it is kind of confusing who is talking without any visual indicator.

Of course, this can be fixed by appending the speaker's name in front of their lines like:
Person A: So and so and what not
Something something
Person B: This and that and over there.

I won't use it. That, I know it.
It might interest other thought, so it's cool...? but I don't really want it to overload my "latest update" manga list, so will there be a ways to hide them like hentai?
Furthermore, I thought the website was already overcapacity, so is it a good idea to add another feature which is not really related. Wouldn't it be a better idea to
create another brother site to store the new content? and you could use the free hosting plan you were using in the beginning of Mangadex.

Well, my opinion is: I don't care as far as a don't see it (more like: as far as it doesn't hinder the reading experience).

Interesting and glad that MD is doing something different. I'm not too interested in audio dramas but I'd like to try it out some time.

Would like to see more new things and opportunities from MD~

I'm writing here assuming that:
1. This takes off well, with new translators wanting to take apart due to this centralization.
2. That most people will be watching these dramas like a video since they need the subtitles anyways.

Since this is probably gonna be in video format, suggested features include:
1. Allowing translators to choose a background for video
2. An intuitive system to crop in character portraits that can light up depending on who is speaking (more enjoyable than color-coded character lines, may be annoying for translators to add in extra work or they might enjoy it, don't know.)
3. MP3 download is probably useless due to people needing subtitles and the fact that they are even more essentially raws; helps translators find raws but they wouldn't need it if it were on Dramadex (chicken and the egg scenario) unless they wanna snipe.
4. Optional Autoplay? Linking different episodes together?
5. Some sort of credits for the translator too, so that others can't pretend that its their own.

Its probably gonna be hard to find drama cds from older anime. Would love Baka-Test and Iris Zero drama cds translated.

@Teddy Not video format, just displayed subs. Credits for drama CDs work in the same way they do for manga, as displayed in the example.

Pity but I guess that would be much easier to work with.

I prefer Radios over Drama CDs Also because they're usually free.

As a suggestion, being able to bookmark a spot to continue later.

As a likely direction this may go, someone may eventually start splicing in manga images with the drama CD? (well, in this case, the CD1 of oniichan oshimai follows the source material very very closely.) You might eventually have people wanting to create their own mini-slideshows to go with the drama CDs.
