I believe it would be highly bennificial and rise the social standard conversations in the comment section or soon to come future manga reviews, if we had a 1 - 10 individual comment rating system
lets call it (usefull comment) where the users avarage comment rating is shown.
That way everyone will think twice before they insult or judge other users & the manga.
Implementing this seems only logical given a lot of social oriented and rating websites where the comments have an impact on things have this feature.
And I believe people want to strive towards the better. And if they want to be seen as a trustworthy usefull person in the comment section where a lot of reader visit out of the sheer purpose of wanting to know more about the manga, then the commenting people will surely try to write something constructive instead of needless profanity,
and groundless exaggerated opinions with the single intention of not wanting other people to give it a chance.
This implementation would only harm the ones with ill-founded intentions and overall a negative detrimental activity
on the forums, comment section and anywhere sociably possible on the website.

Something like:

Wait, isn't that almost like how reddit works?
But implementing such a thing might need a massive revamp, plus if each individual is given a rating will become like that Black Mirror episode where everyone is given a rating to determine their status as an individual (also with the possibilities of bots running rampant, just a nightmare scenario). It's not a bad idea per say, but the logistics behind it might need extensive planning and we don't know whether mangadex server can handle it or not.

READ FIRST: Planned and Rejected Features
on Forum: Comment incentive (likes? reactions?)
i mean, v5 is coming SoonTM along with forum rework and such

ahh but i'm against giving a score to an individual. i don't like judging a person based on others review.
also some degenerate who linger around general sub might lost their place because of such thing

What are they gonna do? Ban us for saying the series fucking blows or are we gonna have a social scoring system where circle jerking runs rampant. No thanks.

Don't we already have moderation in place for extreme cases of this anyways?
Is every case of minor-to-moderate disagreement/vitriol being subject to a visible public vote really going to change anything for the better?
I can already see Mass Exodus v5 occurring, this time because of individuals woefully suffering from AFPRC (A Few Poorly Received Comments).

Challanging it may or may not be for MD team to implement, on the long run it would solve and ease a lot of comment and user moderation.

Sorry, what? People should think twice regardless if there are ratings or not. If they don't want to, they won't.

Also, I disagree with the scoring system. Maybe a reaction system to filter out the (un)useful comments, but giving score to them? Please, just don't.

A comment ratings system doesn't exactly deter inflammatory comments on reddit, so I fail to see how it would somehow succeed in doing so on MD.
People will continue to have opinions, often extremely polarizing and/or controversial, and express them, regardless of the potential internet backlash.

@Halo
Just a small reminder for you, a few weeks ago where you dumped your usual garbage shitposting on my suggestion, it has gotten the green planned. (manga rate removal / change)
I can see how this particular suggested implementation must also hurt everything that you stand for. ...

Isn't this like upvoting/downvoting a comment?

Pls no I hate this idea.
Top comments will always be some troll posting shit.
Which is funny and great on some occasions, but lets be real nobody want to see the same people all the time on top with some shit posted.
Sometimes I like to read interesting comments for a change.

No. Comment would be sorted like it always has been, none would get more priority over the other.
Only thing would change is that every commenter would have a personal avarage rating for reliability and usefulness.
You could also put a neutral button in between so the avarage score won't be as volatile just with the + (10) and - (1) neutral would be (5)
This in mind would people use the like and dislike buttons.
You could also implement something like after a period of time and number of votes if the commenter reaches over (8) or so,
that person gets somekind of cute stamp of acknowledgement somewhere that is not conflicting the interface.
I think this as well would make a great motivator towards being a constructive and helpful person.
Maybe put a few of these stamps in the donation shop for those who have the required score.

Wouldn't that create another problem with the serious and joke comments?

Sorry to burst your bubble vis-a-vis the true nature of man, but a comment scoring system is not going to reward the nicest, most useful people. The average score shown on someone's profile page is just going to show you whether or not someone usually just mirrors popular opinion or dunks on others.
If you want to promote empathy in discussion, "reactions" (like the currently planned feature) seem like the better bet between the two.

This is nothing new here, theres a hungarian website I use from time to time it's name is frequent questions.
It has the same comment rating system I proposed, it works perfectly.

I'm stunned I have to write this down but you don't have to rate everyones comment you know....
It's like the manga rating or commenting feature, no one is forcing you to use it :D

It has categories and sub categories of everything you can imagine, like vehicles, computers, gardening, politics, teen romance,
middle age romance, family matters, traveling, animals anything technical ect...ect..
There you can ask any question you want and the community will try to anwser it. I'm not saying the rating system is perfect, but theres no better solution out there.
