wow seriously entitled ppl around the globe never fail to surprise me, delays are better that not releasing on this site at all, u want their group to remove your fav series from mangadex?? becos sending more death treats and nasty comment on their page is how u do it.

If you really cant wait go to their site to read it how long does it take u, not to mention mangadex usually have a link to the scans group website, to be fair some scan group site all filled with ads to the point of digusting or have really confusing UI. So just learn to wait, give another series a go or hobby do something instead of camping your ass and waiting for your series.

@googolplexbyte I think some systems like upvote/downvote or direct replies are nice, but the rest sounds too extreme and way restricting for readers.

Remember that just like there are shitty readers, there are also shitty scanlators as well. Sometimes the hate is justified, even if the shitty scanlators did "dedicate" their time into a series.

Readers' entitlement isn't a new thing, but I don't think it is worth to warrant that "all scanlators are nice and readers should also be as well". If you protect all scanlators, you will also create a situation where they can do anything without the readers being able to voice their opinions.

There's always two sides to the coin. That's why a voting or direct reply system are the only sound choices.

I've seen people send death threats for less than that, and then tell people who tell them to knock it off to stop being so sensitive. Really. You're the one being butthurt about a delay and you're calling others sensitive.

Seeing a lot of censorship replies here, lets not get too hasty. Mangadex is good cause of the freedom it provides in regards to scanlations, we shouldn't pull another Bato.to or else things will get much, much worse.

It's called being respectful. You do realize that if a group is already scanlating a manga, high chance they also got people working on future chapters. Sniping the manga without letting them know is basically wasting people's effort and ruining their motivation. You're wasting manpower that could be put into other projects. If the guy is bored, there is tons of other great manga/manhwa that are still not translated. Why would he go for this one popular manhwa someone is editing, I wonder?

Do you realize that nobody has to ask for permission to release their versions right? Why would he go for this manhwa that's popular you wonder? Because he can, liking the manhwa is reason enough, being bored is reason enough, you speak as if the dude's only reason for doing it has to be some shady stuff like trying to profit from scanlating or undermine other groups, I didn't see him shilling his site or begging for money by linking his patreon/paypal, he even went as far as showing respect for the other group in his credit page. And you know, EVEN if he had ulterior motives, that doesn't make it less right of him to do it. If some group gets demotivated by competition, that's their own fault. They can't start scanlating thinking they will have exclusivity to the project, that's the wrong mentality. If the other group releases a better version that yours, you either step it up or get replaced, that's how the world works. If groups want to talk between each other, it's alright but if they don't, it's alright too. Why? because they don't owe nothing to each other.

No one here have the "rights" over any series. But generally, whoever pick it up first should have the major say over it, simply due to respect and convenience. If I am working on a project and someone asks me nicely to hand it over to them, I will. It would free up my time to be used on another series. Sniping imo is only fine if the project is already months behind, so likely no one is working on it nor is anyone caring enough to continue it. Otherwise, it's pretty rude that someone is wasting my time I put into the chapters when I could put it in another manga. Also, more often than not, sniping is a result of ulterior motives, not really true "this project is stagnating, so let's pick it up so people can continue enjoying it".

I disagree, just because you were the first to scanlate something doesn't mean your opinion on releases has more weight that the guy who wanted to start doing it too a day ago. You work is only a waste if you think it was a waste of time so if you ever think that, that's your own personal issue and has nothing to do with the ones providing alternatives. You could as well think the other person is wasting his time and if he wants to do so, that's also his own business. This thing about "ulterior motives" (which you don't even specify), does it really matter? He's releasing his own effort and if people read it, that's how it should be, you're trying to over dramatize something as simple as different people working on the same shit, releasing it and people picking the one they like the most.

There are lots "popular" manga that have multiple version (nagatoro, hatsukoi zombie and 5-Tōbun no Hanayome for example) and people read whichever version they prefer. That's how it should always be.

@googolplexbyte I'd say just replying with what you disagree with is more useful than upvotes/downvotes so I rather not encourage laziness by adding the latter. What would be nice would be that each post that gets a reply, could be linked to said reply so people can read both. The @ to ping users is cute and all but It becomes a mess when your post is in page 1 and the reply in page 3, or even in another thread and you wonder why you were tagged at all.

i recently picked up translating, and i know how much work it need to do a ‘few’ pages, and after that hard work, people will bash you because the translation sucked, and it’s not the best feeling.
though there’re also ppl who supported me amd that makes me really happy. yes, maybe it’s just words without feelings but that led me to continue this.
and i’m very thankful for the fact that this site allows a beginner like me to publish my work.
so please refrain from saying such bad things, you got to read manga for free, it’s a friggin luxury. you get to eat cake without paying!
