So the kids really went to the mountain fully knowing not just about the deity, but also the curse. The fact that they’re not ignorant, but still happily chilling out with Dara-san shows how special they are.
And we also now know their supernatural sight came from her.
Indeed, it's been confirmed on ch. 14, Chiyo says that after giving birth to her children she's been unable to see supernatural things the same way, neither see Dara-san who at the time was in front of her.
so, that arm in the flashback is the same arm sealed in the small shrine right? How is it still so cursed even after 100+ years?
wasn't the sister the one with MORE power though? The sister can see her even when she's hiding like, twice now?
anw thanks for the chapter
I don't remember when or if there was a directly comparison of the supernatural gifts both kids have, but there is a difference, probably due to their different quirks and relationship with Dara-san. Curiously though, in their original description only the sister's has the mention of a extraordinarily strong spiritual sense.
How the curse in the arm is still so powerful is something that I believe hasn't been answered yet, but it probably will eventually, it together with the head of the Snake still being active are the reasons why Dara-san stayed as a god of the mountain and vowed to protect it, as she on her own was unable to defeat the Snake and seal it completely (thanks to the betrayal and sabotage of her older sister).
I'm honestly surprised to see Chiyo having a relationship with Dara-san much similar to that of a God and servant, but it makes sense. Her kids not having inherited the responsability of taking care of the shrine yet, not having to deal with a possibly pissed of Dara-san at the time (who apparently really mellowed out over the years), having their mother talk to them about the deity as being not only a figure to be feared, but one who may also protect and look after them, and all the influence from modern pop culture, probably helped in them having a really positive and tranquil first impression.
As always, thank you very much to the Big Fun Enjoyable Translating Group of Power for the scanlation.
