Friendly reminder that, even if the MC appears to be dumb at times, it's not entirely his fault.
The Twin Kingdom choose those two (the 'idiot' prince and the naive princess) to meet the MC for a reason, and it has pay them off, even more than they expected. The prince carefree attitude lead to a false sense of security, leaving the 'enemy' more vulnerable to make mistakes. The princess, on the other hand, is naive and honest, yet pasionate of her craft, making the 'enemy' try to help her even if only a 'little'. After knowing of the MC personality thanks to the visit of the priest girl, there is no way those two were choosen randomly. The Twin Kingdom used the right cards to reach their choosen goal an it worked. Also, if even the Queen and his close aide (forgot the name lol) were unable to see this coming, there is no way the MC could prevent it either.
1) The beginning of the manga made it clear that the country is patriarchal, and the only reason why Aura is reigning as Queen is that she is the last surviving member of the royal family which possesses a rare and powerful bloodline magic. This means that her authority is shaky at best, and any marriage to one of the prominent noble families would sideline her in favor of her husband. This is explicitly why she attempted to summon Zenjirou, a descendant of the royal family whom eloped with a princess from another country several hundred years ago, to bypass a politically unfavorable marriage while still maintaining the legitimacy of the royal family.
2) Faction wars. Oooh boy faction wars. Power in the hands of the royal family is inherently less power in the hands of the nobility. Attempting to have Zenjirou actively participating in the ruling of the country or have merit accrued under his name would siphon power, authority and deference away from Aura, weakening her position and giving the nobility more room to throw their weight around. The fact that Zenjirou is not originally of this world is actually a double edged sword as he has no power base of his own. While this leaves Aura's power undiminished, it also makes Zenjirou a perfect puppet if he could be put under the influence of a prominent noble family (taking a concubine, siring a child outside of marriage). Zenjirou gaining legitimacy would lessen the impact of Aura having an "unfortunate accident", and he has no power short of suicide to avoid becoming a king in name only.
3) It literally does not matter that Zenjirou would always defer to Aura no matter how much influence he ends up getting. The fact that he has influence in the first place sets him up as an "option". Succession wars often happen in spite of whatever the successors might personally want since the different noble families have their own opinions of which side would benefit them the most.
It's also not like Aura could just purge the nobility that conspire against her. "Nobility" are a necessary evil to all rulers, as no one family can control an entire country on their own, and attempting to purge one family will inevitably lead to a civil war unless everyone else agrees to join in for a share of the pie.
Man, I'd hate to be a royal. It sounds like fun and games at first, with all the glamor and wealth...but with all the politics and etiquette to worry about, I'd be way too stressed everyday and just rage quit like the The Duke & Duchess of Sussex did by throwing away their royal titles and the duties along with them. Probably more so in a primitive medieval setting where there's a high likelihood of being stabbed in the back (both figuratively and literally) after having all your given rights, power, and assets/resources taken away by evil nobles...which I guess isn't too dissimilar to modern times with politicians, now that I think about it.
@Harry_Dong: First of all, Aura didn't try to specifically summon Zenjirou. What she tried was to summon a person who has similar and somewhat stronger magical properties.
Aura had already mentioned before that it was a happy accident and coincident that Zenjirou was the one who got summoned, who turned out to be a descendant of the same bloodline as Aura (you can say that Zenjirou is a distant cousin of Aura).
@JuliusCV: Not to forget that one of the Faction in the Twin Kingdom
wants to change the policy of that Kingdom's ruling system by verifying and using the possible special feature of Aura's child.
@Kisato: Actually you are mistaken. The prince actually has
a more deadly version of a viral fever. The diseases that you mentioned only occurred to MC before.
@Korvalus: Actually, there are two main goals given to the Prince of the Twin Kingdom, by his father. First, to use any method required (even revealing important kingdom secrets) to get their hands on those Marble's that Zenjirou owns. The Second one is,
to try and confirm about the magical nature of Aura & Zenjirou's child, aka the Prince.
The long stay of the Twin Kingdom delegates is for this specific chance, because
as a child born in an under-developed medical practice world, there is high chance for him to get sick (be it a minor or serious one), which could give a chance to visit him and confirm the thing needed.
Just a note, the child prince getting sick isn't part of a conspiracy, but its normal stuff.
There is actually another personal goal the Twin Kingdom Prince has, which would be revealed later on.
Won't go into much detail as the first part would be revealed in the next chapter, while the other one a bit further away.
As for Bona (the girl from the Twin Kingdom),
well she is a clueless type, mainly sent as wildcard/black-horse, because her simplicity could help build a relation with MC without getting Aura too defensive/alerted about her. If she is able to build a romantic relationship with MC, then its a bonus, if not, even then its ok.
first problem: he doesnt bring theories on time, physics, or any book by Einstein to his new wife so she can walk through the universe like a literal god.
second problem: the baby should have the greatest immune system in the universe because thats how it works
@jejunum I have no idea either, Shin hasn't showed up for nearly 3 months already. He's in a state we call "missing" IRL, and we have no way to know how he's doing now :v
Im surprised this dudr did not bring more stuff with him. Like books on metal would be enough to make good stuffnlike titanium. I know they need chemistry to work. But maybe magic can work if you know basic of elements.
I see page 15.
First thought: "She seems to have tarted herself up. Is she trying to seduce him?"
... Then I read the letters which awkwardly made the word "MESSY". Cue expression of momentary bafflement because it looked like the opposite to me.
Then later on apparently she made no move to seduce him. Really now?
Anyway, I fully endorse this technological route. INVENT GLASSES! MEGANE FOR EVERYONE!
Just ask something in return, for that piece of lens information. Considering how the prince and princess have been acting, they likely would offer something. If they don't, then tell them Capua kingdom is having second thoughts about the deal concerning Zenjiro. That's how international politics work (unfortunately).
Fairy tales taught us how dreamy it would be to marry prince/princess and become the King/Queen and live happily ever after.
when in fact it’s the shittiest job ever lol
