Even though it seems she was reckless at first, it seemed like she checked it real well before doing so; author even added a prior cracking as a cherry on top for good measure.

this at least makes sense in the context of the no baked plan of breaking Ruri's horns off anyway, not actually considering important things like Ruri's safetyor that her neck is going to be ablating most of the force youre attempting to use

if i was Mrs Aoki i would veto the horn snapping because i legitimately dont know if you can safely do it with anything besides an angle grinder or diamond hacksaw. Ruri's bones are still half human and her skull isnt exactly designed for handling torque.

As for her horns, the one-shot has her horns growing into even fancier horns as an ending gag, so maybe we'll see hers grow into them? Or not. A series isn't always going to mess with the base appearance of a character. And the idea of treating the first growth of horns as baby teeth amuses me.

Also, if I've learned anything from Machikado Mazoku (and I have), the real problem trouble spots with horns is in the whiplash and the neck. At least Ruri's horns are less likely to get in the way of sleeping, poor Shamiko.
