I'm actually starting to wonder with the way they're talking about it if being a dragon is actually a binary state, and not something you can be halfway into. Like, if the more Ruri embraces this, the more dragon traits will appear, and if one day she'll basically be her dad.

I mean her friends should feel a bit bad for harassing her to be their personal grill. Especially when she didn't want to do it. That's borderline bullying. She's being treated like an oddity, not like a person.
That was just someone who was friends with Ruri's classmate, Ruri didn't know them.

I get it's for the reader's convenience and mystery and whatever, but with how serious and realistic this manga tries to approach this topic, it's weird that Ruri hasn't once tried to just talk to her dad about this dragon thing. You know, maybe get ahead of these changes, get some knowledge, know what's going to happen so you don't get a big emergency scare every single time, like with the horns, the poison, the shock, the fire...

I love Ruri, she's trying hard to figure things out and the mother is trying to be as considerate as possible, however I think the rest aren't making sense, she obviously doesn't want to be the center of attention of the whole school, nobody would want that, specially people freaking out and feeling animosity just because you're simply existing.
Kashiro is almost presented as "I don't give a fuck about how you feel or how others feel about you, I want to hang out with you and the others so come on, it's gonna be fun!" that's half good and half selfish and inconsiderate and if that wasn't enough, she ends with "If you don't come up, everyone will feel guilty so you better join us!" huh? WHAT ABOUT NOT CARING ABOUT WHAT THE OTHERS THINK? NOW SHE HAS TO BE CONSIDERATE?

Aaaahh I need to breath, seriously it pisses me off when I try to make sense of all of this because some characters act normally like Aoki despite her situations but others are being selfish, too carefree or then aggressive.
You also need to take in consideration the localization really screws up dialogues and changes character personalities compared to the original, like Ruri and her mom switching personalities in the first chapter. It's possible the dialogue in the raws makes much more sense than this.

I tried retranslating the first chapter to post here, but I need to prioritize work and that doesn't leave me with enough time to do that.

I read it as "If you care so much about how others think of you then why haven't considered how your friends will feel when you leave?". She's trying to showcase how Ruri is being hypocritical right now.
I don't think she was being hypocrite, she was literally burning and people were chasing her around (in a case like this, I would assume someone would've thought "omg let's get some water or an extinguisher!") it was after that she learned that is not dangerous for her or others, in fact forget being hypocrite she barely has time to think about the whole thing before she's being put against the wall again, I don't think she needs to leave but give her a freaking break for 10 minutes at least.

less of a step forward and more of a leap with how the chapter ended lol, love it

really excited to see what Ruri brings to the table when she comes back to the festival, these moments when her emotions come to a head and need to be laid out to sort things out are when the manga really excels imo

By the way, since this manga is trying to be serious, is very strange the government allow her to move freely and not confining her is some facility to study her body? No press? No tv? I mean, everyone act really calm like is normal to have a monster girl wandering around among humans, but maybe there is a reason for this we do not know yet.
Judging by the fact they have procedures established for this kind of thing, she must not be the first by far. They must've just kept it from the media somehow (which I find strongly unrealistic, given that her entire school knows by now).

I frankly don't understand that part. Like, she's going to be the center of attention because of the ghost fire - but so what? Wasn't she because of the horns? Didn't she willingly draw attention to herself by agreeing to grill sausages for the other kids?
Kashiro is almost presented as "I don't give a fuck about how you feel or how others feel about you, I want to hang out with you and the others so come on, it's gonna be fun!" that's half good and half selfish and inconsiderate and if that wasn't enough, she ends with "If you don't come up, everyone will feel guilty so you better join us!" huh? WHAT ABOUT NOT CARING ABOUT WHAT THE OTHERS THINK? NOW SHE HAS TO BE CONSIDERATE?
She's peer-pressuring her? Like, plainly telling Ruri that trying to isolate herself out of the sense of consideration for others will leave them feeling worse than her just rejoining them, flames and all?

I feel bad for ruri. This is another permanent change she’s going to have to deal with all her life. I hope there’s a way aside from constantly soaking herself in water to control the flames
Oh no, she'll be forced to take hourly showers not to stand out! Well, not to stand out, other than by having horns and weird pupils and fangs and superstrength and that.

This where the collectivism doesn't work here. She really needs to focus on her individuality and set the boundaries she wants to have. And if the people around her can't respect that then that's on them.
It's not even about collectivism, it's about that Japanese "the nail that stands out gets hammered down" mentality. Healthy collectivism includes accepting the collective's members as they are, just as well.

Seems to be about the right time to visit dear old dad for some insights.
The best time to do that was at the very beginning. The second-best time is ASAP.

The most unrealistic part of this manga is not the dragon stuff but the fact that social media has not made her life living hell.

Really unrealistic, since everybody take pictures and videos and probably upload on the net, so the whole world should already know about her. Well, the author need to explain somehow this part. :p

Yep, also i'm curious about the dad, maybe he is someone the government know behind the scenes.

I think Kashiro's very consistent in her selfishness overall. She doesn't care for moods and doesn't really put on airs, plus she really dislikes the fact people will hold themselves back from having fun for the sake of preserving someone else's supposed environment of conversation.

What I think Kashiro's doing this chapter is using Ruri's consideration of other people as a way to get her to have fun with everyone, which is what Ruri actually wants. Kashiro knows that's the only way to convince Ruri as it stands, so she manipulates the situation to liberate the people she likes from vague things like "reading the room" and "considerations" where she deems there don't need to be any.

I think it's pretty noble overall, even if she's a little weird about her methods.

The "I fucked her so hard she can't walk" would change into "I fucked her so good she caught fire". I mean sex with Ruri will be a hardcore ride, she can zap you, fire breath on you, be burning with demon fire, puke some wierdo shit at you. Somehow "finding g-spot" stops being the hardest part of the whole thing lol.

"that temper must be from her Ryu genes"

I almost feel insulted by that, getting properly angry is a very human trait, particularly when it's about social obligations

Gotta be a solution because I doubt the author has the patience to draw her on fire all the time.
