But Arifureta isn't a revenge story ? MC clearly states he doesn't give a single sh*t about the others and clearly acts on it. He just want to go home with his waifus and daughteru and stomp on anything between him, his harem and that goal.

I really don't understand the hate on Arifureta overall, and I think most people actually misunderstand that story. It's true it's not very well written and got a lot of issues. Yet the author is self aware he's not that good and works on it. He even poke fun at himself and his own characters, which IMO shows that no only he actually got some redeeming quality as an author, but he also loves his own world building and like his own characters, which IMO always make a read enjoyable. It's easy to see when an author is having fun with his world-building compared to an author that just follows the trend.
Arifureta story was never serious, in any way, from the very beginning. But there's still a plot and a clear goal, and that's something most Light Novel author can't even do these days.

No, really, I don't understand why people trashes it. It's not very good, but it's certainly not as bad as people says. (And I love the After Story)

Btw, you forgot one genre of Isekai : the "build a kingdom" kind. Realistic Hero Kingdom Reconstruction is probably my favourite of that genre.

@ShinGetsu Agreed on Arifureta getting more undeserved hate than it deserves. There's a lot to complain about, but imo there's a lot more to enjoy than that. Hell, you can tell how much the author loves his characters by reading the after stories and seeing how much all of the characters have developed from when you first meet them (except Tio, who never changes). And fuck, anyone who doesn't enjoy reading about Nagumo's murderloli daughter probably thinks fun is just a buzzword.

@Tyizor Arifureta isn't a revenge story and I guess you think Shield Hero is the best of that genre since revenge is only a part of the story and gets resolved by vol 4. I love both of those though.

@ShinGetsu @ThyUnsaspicious @ultimatehaki I'll admit I only read up to chapter 70-90 or so before dropping it, so 1. I might not have gotten to what you all enjoy so much 2. The whole revenge gambit probably mellowed out. If the author was really self aware and seeking to improve the entire time then my hats off to him. Not a lot of authors are like that and I hadn't gotten to read any of his author notes.
My main complaints where shit physics behind his railguns, rabbit girl being annoying af, and a lot of the side characters in general being extremely two dimensional. Maybe these issues got resolved, but I feel like 70-90 chapters to get resolved is already quite a bit.

As for the kingdom building, yes that's one. My list is far from everything in isekai. I just listed a few or else it'd take forever.
