So why didn't MC talk to his mother about Shiika being the daughter of the rapist? It was as if his mother didn't know, so all the more reason for him to talk to her about it.

Before the end of this chapter he didn't feel like having a reason to live and thus either didn't care enough to talk or just kept his mother intentionally in the dark because wanted her to stay with Shiika (rather that alone) after he kills himself.
