So the scumbags really were adventurers operating as a band of fraudster thieves. And they're getting sentenced, no getting away scot-free.
They say the Adandara big cat invokes death, clearly it's not true for Ivy, but maybe, hopefully it's true for those who would want to kill or cause her serious harm. It may not be her tamer-contracted companion (yet), but it's a very friendly ally clearly watching out for her with that much prey it offered to her.
I think this story is getting the right balance between safety and danger for our (almost) helpless (when it comes to fighting) protagonist. It's generally peaceful with just the right dash of danger that the reader can't feel completely complacent, yet not so dangerous that it's clearly uncomfortable and anxiety-inducing.
