There was a time that this was a fairly enjoyable story with a somewhat unique half-isekai premise but this awful kidnapping arc has went on for way too long and looks like it'll be going on for at least another few chapters at this point. This should have been resolved long before now.

O really, sasuga author with the patience of Buddha. I totally can relate to your character being a total saint to those that absolutely intentionally fucking with you.

Not sure I get the hate at this story arc. This is the first actual conflict that this manga has had, I find it actually enjoyable to see it play out. Why is there so much hate for the first real obstacle thats been thrown into the story?

I think that its more that these people are really upset over the release schedule and they don't even realize it.
Thing is, a story like this one takes a while to tell, even in manga/comics. So when you're on a monthly release schedule, it can take as long as a year to finally get through the story arc. And by about then, I could understand how most people would be pretty tired of it. I just think their anger is a bit misplaced.

yeah all this "mental control" bullshit arc needs to finish, it was utter bullshit how he could even be controlled in the 1st place
It's been 8 chapters and these guys are treating it like it's been running for 8 years

You know that will make sense if the author don´t try to prolong this filler arc, the MC try to do something usefull with the skills already have and the distrust to the saint and the blindy dumb believer companion (the author just make us forget the MC really dont trust in those people) to prevent entirely this prolongued drama of "the plot armor says we need 10 chapters of memory loss and all the circunstance of the fake narcisist saints always win" lazy storytelling

there was no need of any plot armor tho, it's all believable
and yes mc doesn't fully trust them but he can only stay with them adn try to keep their full trust anyway

Why would you trust anyone that keeps running away (clearly) from towns and stuff at full speed when they are innocent? First itme? I could see someone ignoring that, but this has happened multiple times and the peopel around him are acting suspiciously.
But this arc has gone on too long, it's very wheel spin. What has this arc so far achieved? We know crazy lady loves MC for some reason yandereishly and that she doesn't wanna be found and her attendent also loves crazy lady.... This could have been done in 1-2 chapters but we are 8 deep and still more to go. It's just wasted chapters of wheel spin and clearly a filler arc to prolong the chapter count for chapter counts sake.

Keep in mind, you're biased because you have the outside perspective. There's pretty good reason given for him to trust her for now...
So there you have it. This woman has been doing an absolutely phenomenal job of manipulating him. This is textbook brainwashing techniques, only with the shortcut of being able to suppress his memories, so she has no need to break him of his will. She just wiped the slate clean and started writing a new narrative for him.
This is an incredibly competent villain. Juliana's only mistake thus far was to believe she had no need to use her charm magic on Emma. She not only thought that the girl had completely fallen for her, but also that the rift between Emma and Kouta would be insurmountable. Juliana forgot just how pious of a woman Emma is despite her personal foibles, and thus failed to realize that Emma's piety might outweigh her
And quite by accident, Kouta reminded her that disregarding what Juliana was doing was a sin in accordance with her gospel.
Another reason why I don't mind that this has been getting dragged on is because we've also been getting treated to seeing Clara nearly have a complete and total meltdown. It is incredibly rare to see a manga-ka that carefully develops a healthy and loving partnership between two characters like this - a slow-burn romance where they become so emotionally attached to each other that one losing the other nearly destroys them like this.
It is so very human and so very realistic that I can't find it in me to be displeased at all with the slow progress.
And on top of that, we've been splitting time pretty equally between Clara and Juliana, getting all kinds of character development and backstories.
One last thing to keep in mind here. These people do not have telecommunications of any kind. Any word at all still relies on written messages being physically carried. Which is part of why things dragged on. Additionally, they're in pursuit across the globe in sailing ships. Ironically, it probably would have taken this long IRL.
That said, with Emma's confession it looks like we've hit the climax for this story arc, so this is probably gonna wrap this up in the next couple or three chapters.
