Yeah, I can sort of see it.When the most interesting thing this chapter is the guy who looks like Conan O'Brien...
Have you read any comments the last several chapters?Anyone else feel like the author is just dragging this arc out.
The "show, don't tell" phrase is bad advice. It depends entirely on context, and as you say, telling is often a lot faster (unless the image really is a thousand words). It's also a matter of detail, since you can almost always show more than what you're currently doing, like a child repeatedly asking "Why?", and by doing that iteratively you'll end up with something that goes into unnecessary details and tangents.Seriously, just tell us some of this stuff in text so we can move just a tiny bit faster
This is true, but it's the most true because it applies to children (or adults) who are marginally smarter than a border collie. There's a good way to show, and a way to tell well, and a bad way to do both. The "show, don't tell" phrase is bad advice. It's kind of like a lot of advice, like always cut away from you while doing woodwork or crafting, and never lift with your back. It kind of works if you don't know any better, but that also means you're not good enough to understand why it isn't always good advice and why you're probably going against it a lot of the time anyway without thinking about it.This is true, but it's the most true because it applies to children (or adults) who are marginally smarter than a border collie.
Are you telling me that as if I didn't know, or clarifying for others? 'Cause I skipped that bit because I thought it was too obvious to comment on, and I'd already done so in my first post in this thread. But specifically in this case they're asking "why is he STILL ON A STUPID BOAT?!" and "Why am I still eating this nothingburger?"
No I haven't. This was just a passing comment of mine & don't always read comments or make them. Anything significant in the comments of previous chapters!?Have you read any comments the last several chapters?
What you said has been the major complaint for the last several chapters. The arc's dragging on too much.No I haven't. This was just a passing comment of mine & don't always read comments or make them. Anything significant in the comments of previous chapters!?
