Contrived? Not really, the entertainment industry part of the plot is introduced already, prostituted talents aren't unusual. Personally I like that they're revealing male victims, it's something that isn't usually touched upon.On one hand, this explains why he helped cover up her mother's death. On the other hand, the introduction of another rape victim feels both plausible and contrived. It's a bit of a mixed bag—there’s some logic to it, but it also seems a bit forced.
