Contrived? Not really, the entertainment industry part of the plot is introduced already, prostituted talents aren't unusual. Personally I like that they're revealing male victims, it's something that isn't usually touched upon.

Yeah that kind of came out of nowhere, like, foreshadowing? I don't know her!
I'm actually feeling super disappointed, if the story was just about these two with Kanon as mc I think the writing would have been a bit tighter. Throwing Izumi as the mc makes it awkward to try and juggle Kanon and Yamato's showbiz-based traumas.
And what has ahe actually put Izumi through?? She had some outbursts but imo she's been shockingly stable around him considering her condition. It seems like it's only with Yamato that she goes full menhera but that's been entirely offscreen.

Didn't mean to rant but I like menhera characters like Kanon and apparently Yamato (man I would have loved more foreshadowing on his issues too, not just, oop regular joe to full on assault lol)
