Author I don’t give a shit about a new couple. I just invested like 2 hrs reading this for it to end on essentially a cliffhanger. How you gonna show us that face from tsubasa and then just end it.

Sorry but I can’t imagine many are sticking around for the next person if you end the first that abruptly. You can’t invest us in 2 characters for 30 odd chapters and just flip the script to another set of people…

The roulette of manga, it’s can be great or it can be pretty shit.

So the only closure we have with Kaede is that he learned he has to live with the trauma and Tsubasa now has PTSD

Huh? I don’t want a new lead… i thought this series was specifically focused on Kaede and him dealing with his trauma

Sudden street murder attempt aside, I actually really like the characterization in this manga, so I'm looking forward to where this is going. That being said, I do hope the new MC related to our MCs in some way, since there's clearly some unresolved plot threads hanging with the nurse/Rio and Tsubasa.

I think this author could be really amazing someday. This story is rough around the edges but, as I said, I love the characterization. I hope if they create any other manga after this someday, it'll get translated too so I can keep reading.

The conclusion was fine.

We went through so much drama, people forget that at the end of the day, it's about Kaede and his pursuit to become 'normal'. This way, he got his answer, that there is no universal standard of normalcy. So it's okay not to be normal because it's probably a lot more normal than he think.

Was it rushed? Probably yes for the chapter before. Giving Tsubasa that wound was not really necessary but if it's the author's way to give her a conclusive reason (to be a better person), then so be it.

We also see that it's impossible to suddenly change for the better, because the trauma always lingers. It's a process, not a switch. Both Kaede and Tsubasa might put on a fake smile right now but who knows later (and I'm just saying this hypothetically because I think their 'spotlight' in this story is over). It's an experience that hurt them but there's still something they can learn from it.

I mean don't we have that kind of encounter too? That kind of "we both get hurt and we both realized it, so we part ways in peace and learn not to make the same mistake again" encounter (well, in this particular case Tsubasa got hurt by the third party but you got the context). Not everything have to be concluded in a black-and-white manner, sometimes it's okay to just quietly move on.

Tl;dr, the conclusion was fine. Not great, not lacking, just fine. The end for us, but not for Kaede. Now we move on to his friend ... who is his name again, ah yes Izumi.

Who knows, when Tsubasa Arc begins, she may work through her trauma and get back together with Kaede.

I'm not sure how I feel about the MC switch. On one hand, it's nice that we won't have to see Kaede do the same arc over and over again but also now we have to get used to this whole new character and get used to their trauma. I hope the new character isn't some grim woe-is-me type like the preview is teasing but the writing in this has been pretty solid so I'm hopeful.

Kind of anti-climatic, no info on what happened to the teacher, no confirmation if Kaede and Tsubasa will at least maintain a friendship, just ends.
Given her reaction after they parted ways, I highly doubt that

It's one of Kaede's friends, the black haired one that's always hanging with Asahi the blonde one

Ah i kind of wished i knew that this manga was going to feature different mcs beforehand, so i wouldnt think the pacing is weird and that the entire manga will be featuring Kaedes stuff being resolved. Now that i know it kind of makes sense where the author left it, trauma isnt something you get over the next day. Atleast Kaede is willing to accept himself: his past, trauma, everything.

Im glad the new arc is still connected to the characters we know in some way, as itll be featuring his friend now.

his parents never send him to see specialist?
It's probable that his parents just wanted to sweep the whole thing under the rug and pretend it didn't happen. There's a HUGE stigma surrounding mental health in Japan. If word got out that Kaede was going to see a shrink to process his trauma, that would bring great shame on his whole family. The neighbours would regard Kaede's parents as bad parents who aren't able to raise a normal son. They would for sure lose friends and possibly also business opportunities over it.
Basically, there's a HUUUGE onus on everyone in Japan to fit in and be 'normal', which is why its such a big deal to Kaede that he doesn't feel normal. Anything that sticks out from what's expected is looked upon extremely harshly, and not always in a logical sense from our western point of view.
We see a family that unfairly suffered trauma by no fault of their own. A japanese person might see a family that is cursed due to some wrongdoing in the past, possibly even by their ancestors, and therefore justly suffers misfortune - and what's more, they bring bad luck onto the neighbourhood and people close to them. Therefore it is best to shun them, lest the misfortunes spill over to you as well.
Not saying everyone in japan is like this, but it is a thing.

I feel confused. Why change protagonist?
This resolution felt rushed, almost axed level of rush... and yet it continues?
Who the fuck is the new kid anyways? :kek:

The story isn't about following Kaede, but its stories about trauma, notably how young people react to trauma because usually when you're an adult you're "put together enough" that you can have a better mask of it all. Each arc is going to be an installment or a new lens essentially

Everyone in the comments every single chapter: "OMG ANYONE WHO OPPOSES MY BOI KAEDE DESERVES DEATH HOW COULD (insert character here who didn't 1000% understand him) DO THAT HE DESERVES A HAPPY ENDING"

Comments now: "Wow what an anticlimactic ending, he's just happy now?"

Pfft, I knew it'd be like this. All this drama with little to no payoff. People wish for happy endings way too much. That's not how life is. I thought this mangaka was doing a decent job at writing a mature and at least somewhat realistic story, but he probably got hit with all the people wanting "the best" and ended it on a 100% wholesome note. Makes it all feel barely worth it.

I'm interested in the new character but my thoughts on this Manga have dropped pretty far.
