old argument, if you are going to have a global economy, you need a global state to be able to manage it.

Well this is going to lead to quasi world war 1 isnt it

The british and the french are somewhat nice to each other, with a rising germany thinking they are a world power

Also another break? We just got out of a break, and this arc is already so goddamn long too, I'm pissed. 3 goddamn years and 5 volumes so far already and it feels like the end is still far off and the breaks just make it even worse.
Based on the last page, the arc has to be close to wrapping up. Even if there's still several more chapters to go, at least a lot of things should actually be happening each chapter, since it is definitely the climax

I wasn't expecting current world commentary but it's what we got.

Also, "That thing that has caused great many wars and countless deaths, AKCTWALLLY:geek:, has never been truly tried before, so i'll do it again! This time is bound to work for sure!" is the laziest, most common excuse of wannabe 3rd rate dictators and mass-murderers with delusions of grandeur.

The one who most push towards an authoritarian, absolute ruleship with themselves at the helm is, without fault, the least fit to such a position. For they lack a critical characteristic inherent for a successful rule: trust in the fellow man and in the institutions who ensure such trust is not misplaced.

But yes, Ludwig sounded like a commentary of current political climate with one single mistake: the nations and their people are stronger than that, and all that empty populism and authoritarian delusions? We've seen it before and know how it ends. It will NOT happen again. Minneapolis is an example.
I agree. We can't let other nations send their people in to commit fraud by stealing millions of taxpayer dollars. They better lear.

I mean he's not wrong about the globalist part, peace and prosperity attract parasites. But in the end he wants a global government, very much like the globalist of today. Total political alignment and "democracy" as far away from those pesky voters as possible. How very timely.

Guy wants to do what is obviously not going to work. No one man can have power over the globe. Not a single one. Should've just beaten budget Hitler down on the spot rather than letting him walk.

True because its leading to a world power but keeping the political divisions as well keeping the power of the state weakened, we seen with Mastercard recently because the state lost control over payment services.

As for unification within a single nations, eventually we will get there but even with current technology it would be very hard ... the problem is that is a resistance due to natural interests to get there, look at the EU for example ... it "works" but have deep issues such as a common defense policy or even the US that today have deep divisions because even if there is a strong common sense of national identity, when it comes to details things arent as clear cut anymore.

Also I dont think he Emperor is right because the issue is ... he is mortal and no matter how good and capable ruler he is, it will eventually break apart, a unification needs to come from a strong desire like what happened in Italy and Germany or from a system that gets too complex and useful to be torn down, the the EU.

Its kinda funny as I do see and actually agree with his point since naturally humanity will drive into a unified front as Kai "self-determination" is naive and self-defeating ... but the system needs to be robust to survive and that requires the people to accept it, not something forced unto then.
I somewhat agree. What Karl is trying is just a larger monarchy. Unification needs to happen mostly willingly, even if people are lead there and it shouldn't be through concentration of power into fewer hands.

He wants more a monarchy than a global government but I guess it's adjacent.

I have to be the "actually " guy here: Hitler thought that his Arians were literally a superior breed and thus had the "natural" right to subjugate and rule over the lesser races.
Koenig is much more modern in a sense, he wants to supplant the different cultures and ways of living with one global empire, where everyone is largely the same. Same culture, same ruler, same direction. It's basically a socialist-esque empire with a single Emperor like figure at the top ( as in what actually happened in such countries, some animals are always more equal than the rest)

Ahh, good old world domination. Surely it will pose no problems whatsoever!

It was really unexpected that they started talking about our own world, it makes sense that by the end of 2030, something like that could happen, and I was interested in what the author wanted to say about it.
But the villain being a moron who thinks a single supreme dictator could possibly solve any problem is so dumb. It would be way worse for a single governing body especially one led by a single person to rule the entire world. I hoped he would have a better idea.

But Imperium of Man from Warhammer 40k worked

World domination, yeah right, even if you could, once the supreme ruler dies, there's a high chance this 'united' world will fall apart as you can't be sure the next one will be able to carry it on.
So what's next? Oh right, you'll seek immortality so you can rule forever.
Got immortality? You'll get a god complex, become a complete sociopath or totally apathetic to cope with the mental strain.

The emperor himself never explicitly says anything about supplanting, suppressing, or exterminating different cultures. Koenig military officials have definitely shown a common belief in their cultural superiority, but Ludwig himself hasn't, including in his previous meeting with Kai in the dwarven lands. He only seems to be interested in military and political dominance. The key here is on page 19, he says "all nations move as one, gathered under one single banner, governed by one single ruler," crucially not "all people united as one nation" or anything of that sort. There's also nothing about "Koenig ruling the world," only him ruling it.

Granted, based on what Monroe deduces his plans for Huang Lia are in chapter 93, he definitely doesn't care about preserving culture either. There just isn't any evidence he cares about cultural identity at all, just in his own individual superiority.

The classic, 1 conqueror rules everything because the being is "totally immortal" and can ensure that nobody will ever disagree with them, kill somebody, start a civil war, etc.

But Imperium of Man from Warhammer 40k worked
Its interesting you sayintg that because the Imperium come about after the Dark Age of Technology that is left purposely vague and, of course, the Age of Strife that is were human civilization collapsed.

The Imperium is complex on itself since are we talking about what time since it changed, back when Big-E was walking around there was no Imperial Creed officially and no Ecclesiarchy, the Inquisition was also formed after the Horus Heresy so it wouldnt happened again so we have the 30k of the Great Crusade Imperium and then the 41k Imperium that is diferent.

But some things are the same, the Imperium for example doesnt really care how a world governs itself and leaves it to its own devices as long they pay the Imperial Thine and dont do something stupid like worship Chaos for the obvious reason, there is a remarkable amount of leeway even if "legally" that isnt allowed, such as trading that happens because Terra is far away and the Administratum will only look more deeply if something is missing ...

This is not to say the Imperium of Man is good, even the Emperor only build it as a framework for his great work, the Webway Project that was meant to elevate Mankind to his level ... of course Magnus then screwed everything and we had the Horus Heresey ... the Imperium does work, to keep Humanity from being destroyed that is because after Horus "disagreement" its really just holding up everything from collapsing and if it does ... you rather live in a Hive or a Daemon World? As bad a Hive can be, there is far worst ...
