Must mean she can't really use much of her holy powers right now, because if every hit, even the basic ones, were causing noticeable buffs, then it would be broken if she could get the same kinds of returns absorbing her own light.
She does get buff from her own light. It's how she has been growing her tentacles to grab things.

The bird dude is hilariously dumb. Well thanks to him, she's gotten big again and her attacks should have far greater range and potency. I wonder if she can keep playing him by claiming that she had to dig deep into her reserves to grow big and survive his lethal attack. He might just be foolish enough to think she's close to dying and ready to be finished now... He also seems quite prideful too so I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't even consider escaping. We'll have to see next chapter how it goes but I'd say he's dug his own grave and about to discover the other side of devouring corpses.

That's perpetual motion machine logic.

If she emits light magic and then absorbs it, she's not going to make any gains. Moreover, if either of those processes are not 100% efficient and if she can't reabsorb 100% of all of the emitted light (which has a tendency to just go everywhere), she will obviously always be making energy losses when trying to absorb her own light.
Well that depends actually. To what she is buffing. Is she going to buff her other quantities. Or are we dealing with a kaioken phenomenon where using energy to buff the energy. (Seriously kaioken is busted. Its description states that it uses ki to amplify ki. If it didn't nearly kill you to use it would be broken)

Kaioken uses Ki control to amplify the Ki output beyond what the body is capable of, which strains it.

Say, you've got a reservoir of water with water coming out of a pipe when you open the valve. Well, the water will have a maximum flow rate when the reservoir is full because of the pressure exerted. But then, let's say you just press down harder on the water in the reservoir in order to force it out. The output will be a lot more thanks to the increased pressure, but the pipe and valve can really only bear a certain amount of pressure and will get damaged. That's my analogy for what the kaioken does.

I also see the Super Saiyan transformation as basically being improved forms of the kaioken in that, they don't just increase the pressure, but they also transform the body to strengthen it (and both processes consume energy, which is why Goku's idea to stay in a transformed state was interesting: it meant not consuming energy to transform while staying calmer during the fight) and allow it to bear this increased pressure (though even then, the elder Kaioshin states that the techniques consumes the user's life force; and yeah, staying in super saiyan, is always more strainful than staying in the base form. I'd say it's the reason Goku refused to train for another year, calling it torture, because that's what training while staying transformed was and doing so eventually cut into his ability to make gains. Consider that later on, in a few years of training without staying transformed all the time, despite saying he had hit his limits during the Cell arc, he learned super saiyan 2 and then 3). Then, when you get to Super Saiyan 3, the pressure is huge and the body's is strengthened to handle it, but if you squeeze the water out of the reservoir really hard, it quickly runs out.

Of course, this is just an analogy and there's more going on with the super saiyan transformation (where feelings are transformed into power) and kaioken (where you need to stay in complete control). It's also just my own headcanon.

But yeah, for me, none of those techniques in Dragon Ball are actually "using energy to create more energy than there originally was". The characters have a certain amount of energy reserves (stamina) which they increase by training, but they also have to train to improve how their body uses the energy to strengthen itself and generate more speed and power and they have to train to increase the rate at which they output energy (in order to feed their body with the necessary energy to strengthen itself). Since all these things are usually linked, you get things like power level which are a fairly good gauge of which character can beat who (though techniques can change how you actually perform).
