I would think she actually moved, though I wouldn't say I am certain of it. Considering that she didn't remember her life as a high school student until she was dying, and it seems she can remember more of it after becoming a plant. It would suggest that her soul came to inhabit the plant. As where otherwise it would be that the plant absorbed the memories and some of abilities of a saint. As the soul seemingly traveled to the plant originally I think it would follow that there is a soul transference mechanism at play, and thus that she could in some way activate it again.

Originally, she was supposed to have used several of the axes dropped by the minotaurs to make a shield to block his fire breath, and then as a "reward" for surviving one attack, he used the magic flame, which would only kill her slowly.

I do kinda prefer the pacing here though. Less needless fluff.
