Well, he got voted out of the seat, so that army is just a butler and some hired thugs with no authority. I'm guessing they'll go up against the newly recognized Blue Troupe.

I think you'll find that an army mostly based on opportunism and a mercenary attitude will ....rapidly lose interest... if the cause for Profit suddenly disappears.
And the couple of people actually loyal to the son would have to face an entire town of angry people, a lot of whom are experienced adventurers and combatants, and quite ready to use violence as an alternative.
With the granted authority of an approved City Watch to boot...

That son's Mighty Army will have vanished like the morning mist once they sussed how the wind was going to blow..
