@Chuggoth I don't think they're that destitute. They had the money to put him into school, and he never said he had to go hungry. And he even had the chance to buy manga with his pocket money, so I think it's less that they were starving and more they just didn't have the money to spare on new amenities.

I mean, I get it. He’s still wrong, and he’s being a jackass, but I get it. Feeling like you’re the only one who can’t get anything right while you watch all your friends keep moving ahead’ll put you in a real bad mindspace. Couple that with the isolation, where you only really have your own thoughts for company, and I can see how it’d just sorta break a person.
