The slums shrinking isn't necessarily good or bad without further context. If it's shrinking because people are pushed and thrown out, it's probably bad. If it's shrinking because people get better living standards, that's good.

Yeah, I have one of those lol. It's unfortunately quite a common bug and I know it's technically harmless albeit disgusting. I've snatched snakes off the ground and spiders don't bother me at all but, the sight of those bugs cause me to flip my shit.

I'm 90% sure it's something to the extent of "the slum area is getting repurposed for something else, and the people living there are getting thrown out". That's why our slime immediately thought of the time she was chased out of her habitat by a pack of stronger monsters.
