to be fair, Celestia really work her best as a saint, this piece of work on the other hand looks like she is in for status only. that also maybe the reason why she hates Jelly cause former Jelly kinda same i guess

i think the only reason she was so adamant about the crops was purely to not have to spend time with jelly though

And that could be the cause of her hostility to Jelly, because in fiction the royalty and nobility doesnt really get along (on top of it they are "equals" 'cause of their saint status)

I tried searching, as far as i've seen this is an original story without it being based on a novel despite the writer and artist being a separate person like in other adaptations

It's rare that they aren't. They'd probably want to continue their lineages, and in most mangas they end up being engaged to princes or heroes.

that makes sense tho we don't know for sure if it's 'genetics' or so since i don't know if other than jelly everyone else has 'noble blood'

Saying she's selfish is probably a bit premature, but certainly she has a bad personality. Her reaction to trying to get tout of this could be 100% centered on Jelly.

I can't imagine someone with a 'bad personality' being 'selfless' versus "yeah i'm an asshole but i'll do some things for the greater good" given her two faced attitude so far but she did seem to be more 'hostile'/cold versus 'afraid'
