Actually, yes you can. If you have good reason to believe someone is being abused and/or in danger at their current residence and they willingly seek refuge from you, you absolutely can take them in for their own safety.I mean you can't just take someone else's kid in like that even if you have a good reason to do it, Japanese equivalent of CPS need to be notified of what's going on
You DO have to contact authorities to explain what you're doing and why. However, you will become a temporary legal guardian until their investigation is completed.
