I know how it sounds, but I kinda want him to fail miserably with this costume. Like fuck up the measurements, cut up the kimono in a way that messes in the structure of the weave and makes it fray, or sew a sleeve on the wrong side, just because he is exhausted and can't think straight. This man is working on fumes and a dozen monsters. He remade a whole corset, which is an extremely challenging and structurally complex piece of clothing to create, in a night, not to mention using a hand-weaved vintage obi, which is usually NOT meant to be cut in any way.
At this point I'd find it completely disappointing if this whole arc ends up with Marin just calling him a dummy and celebrating Gojous decline in mental and physical health, while he isolates himself, doesn't consult shit with her and just does whatever, spending god knows how much time and money(this kimono can't be cheap) on a random cosplay.

Damn, this story has gone nowhere in like a year. I don't wanna drop it, but I'm reaching my breaking point here lmao.
Small edit: How do I better put this? The pacing has slowed to the point where snails look like an F1 race. The arcs have become essentially nothing. It's such a damn shame, because it started off so strong and has had so many fun, interesting arcs throughout its run. But the last year I think has essentially killed it for me. No character development, no progress in the romance, it's all just become a big nothing. What a massive disappointment, man.

The problem here isn't that it took one month for this, the problem is that you are expecting one month of real time to equate to one month of time in the manga, instead of literally just the next chapter. Y'all've forgotten that the period of release has nothing to do with the content pacing, and demanding Shonen pacing on this is also not helping.

With this cosplay, too. Nothing was good enough for Gojou until now. this was his obsession, his parallel.

I don't know why would people dislike this. I'm personally am so bored of the same old romance/romcoms that this makes it way more interesting for me.
It’s not that I “dislike” the arc itself, but I have an issue with the pacing. The whole dilemma regarding his growth as an artist is really well-done! But it could have also been done in a single larger chapter. Think of the growth and development in each chapter of something like Fullmetal Alchemist to see what I mean. An unbroken thought from start to finish would have made for a VERY powerful exploration of this idea, only taken 1, MAYBE 2 chapters, and kept the pacing stronger.

I know that’s not an option here, but we as readers get the privilege of saying “I liked this” and “it could have been better” at the same time 🤣

So much black and white in a medium largely portrayed in black and white.
Yeah, but remember Kubo's masterful use of black. In this medium (especially when it's printed, digital versions are usually not as good), black is not just black.

I don't understand. So much chapters revolving around this costume and they cut off all the process of making it god dammit if there's no romance at least let me see cosplay content 😭
thanks for the translation though!
ikr at least the costume finally done and hopefully one of them confesses soon

they keep building up the author as someone unwilling to compromise their vision, or that nobody can perfectly capture the image in his head. i can't wait til he sees this outfit

It feels like this is just meandering and wandering.

It feels like the classic Japanese manga filler 200+ chapters just to fill out the story to sell more volumes.
Most of the time those classic filler ones have progress that goes back and forth, which means a lot of regress, or simply just ignores any progress made in previous chapters. That kind of negative continuity doesn't exist here. I think it does move forward, just very, very slowly. It doesn't help that just one part of many of the story is represented here.

the problem is that you are expecting one month of real time to equate to one month of time in the manga
Who is expecting a full month of time in the manga? An entire month, not a day, not a few days, not a week, not a few weeks, but one (1) month?

He decided on making the costume in chapter 86. That was 7 months and 9 chapters ago. They were already in December at that point. For your point to make sense, someone has had to expected the manga to go past the entire Comiket event 8 chapters ago.

demanding Shonen pacing on this is also not helping.
I don't think it needs shounen pacing. I think it needs something that isn't snail pacing.

Edit: lol, can't handle his strawmen being torn to pieces.
