A fight in the city is shaping up to be interesting because it's not like they can just go apeshit. This isn't like the no-entry zone when Übel and Land fought the special forces of magic. Instead, it's a public area with people around. They can't just blast everything because it would put a huge target on them before the main act happens, so it has to be done with a very strategic mindset.

OR, the mangaka could do what usual shonen mangakas do, and suddenly the city is empty, lmao.

It's hard to explain why, but for some reason I was really impressed by Frieren's "we've been detected" scene. It's like she's a master spy in a cool spy action thriller.

No way. She enchanted those coins ahead of time. She also told Fern to stay back and Stark to follow her because she noticed another one nearby. She is in full on battle mode pretty much.

Gotta love Frieren being so casual about her, apparently rather advanced, spell being uncovered. Or it's the other way around and she doesn't think that highly of the spell. Which would be weird, if a force targeting mages specifically can't even discern advanced from simple magic, that'd put them in a rather bad spot I imagine.

These guys are strong enough to be a problem so at least one of them being skillful in magic detection is more than probable.

But I doubt Frieren will fight them right in the middle of the city.

I guess their numbers is going to be reduced before the operation. But then again, I guess it's within their calculation that they will lose some people anyway. Real question would be how long it took for them to notice. Maybe a day since Frieren marked the coins?

Also, I feel like there will be relevance in revealing the purity of silver in those coins later on. The purity of metals in a coins tend to reflect on the wealth and economy of a country and it with the highest purity, seems like the Empire isn't that powerful nowadays or possibly they never was as the country was design to hold off the demon army. The Empire must be a hollow husk of itself now if there are people wanting a war with the Magic Association.

One thing is certain thou, Himmel and his party was possibly one of the reason why the central continent is so prosperous today. There's some prestige in having a country fund the hero party that was able to kill the demon lord even thou it was just a few copper coins.

Well warriors have the advantage against mages at close distance, but frieren is someone that dealt with the demon king army, she probably knows how to win this fight without having to sacrifice anything.
And she also had what is probably the best warrior back in the day on her party, and who knows your weakness better than your party?

I mean you could see it that way but i think that the empire is simply preparing itself to expand territory, the demon king is dead, the demon army may still have some soldiers but they seem like a shadow of it former self, so the empire probably wants to expand now that they dont have to protect the whole world, and serie is the biggest thorn on their plan.
