This chapter genuinely feels so... Mixed up. First part we see Anya's hilarious ess on how proud she was for getting a star and her immediate downfall after realizing she also got a bolt.

Second, we see Loid getting a little personal with Anya, asking about her life before she was in the orphanage.

Then we meet Damian's brother who is a bigger mystery. I genuinely thought when Anya read his mind he was able to sense he was being read. But it turns out he can't think properly. Guessing he was just made to do what he was told to and not think at all. Like actually not think and only obey his father.

And lastly we see Anya's usual antics again which causes Loid to be more confuse.

It's jumbled up into lots of... Emotions, I guess?

I was thinking (heh) that they're either trained to ward-off even the possibility of the existence of mind readers and he's just slipping up because of his lil bro or mentioning their father, or they're one of those people that have NO (or in this case, minimal) internal dialogue.

The way Damian's brother thinks kinda reminds me about how his dad talked to Loid about not understanding strangers.
And while I think we all can agree that Donovan most have had something to do with the experiments on Anya, part of me is starting to think the Desmond family might be just as much victims as Anya is.
While Damians memory might be wrong it does seem that at least once Donovan was a loving father, but now both him and the mother shows signs of "fiction skizofreni" and both the dad and brother seems to lag empathy.

I'm also partial to thinking Donovan is planning to put his brain in one of the children.

It just very Anya to win big and lost big at the same time.

Anyway the plot is slowly but surely moving so I'm glad at that.

• His head is really empty. (Maybe burnt out after test.)
• His thoughts are too complex for Anya.
• He also just reads minds.

I have a feeling Super Sy-on boy is either:

• Thinking in morse code.

• He also just reads minds.

He does have some sparse thoughts and he did not react to Anya. I think his mind is simply blank most of the time. The "pondering is a waste of time" seems to indicate that.
