There are plenty of reviewers that make their reviews worth watching as well, usually by adding entertainment value and insightful dialogue/connections/trivia that you wouldn't have known otherwise.
Not entirely true though. I agree with the 'don't always adopt the opinions of others' mentality, but reviews are useful in that they can point out things you may have missed while watching/reading, as well as indicate whether or not a work is worth taking the time to view (for people who don't want to view a work that could be a potential time sink).Reading reviews is a waste of time when you can just watch or read the work in question and see for yourself.
And if you can't do even that, then you don't deserve it in the first place.
