Semantics aside, I’m sure he was just talking about the average person. Carrying swords is illegal, and firearms are limited— to my understanding, at best, the Japanese can get hunting rifles.

In terms of living without weapons, I can safely generalize that most law-abiding people, even if they had a weapon in their possession, would never get a chance to use it.

Japan itself isn't really involved in any wars. The JSDF is explicitly a defensive army, even in the name. Weapons are banned for civilians, but even so, when you live in a world with other cultures and conflicts, there's going to be an armed military force of some sort. And poverty is, in fact, pretty low in japan.

like i said, it's not WRONG, but it's a very ethnocentric and idealistic view of the reality.

If you refer to his "top-secret, noone look, even if you think the generator is a big angry dog" tech he brought for his own luxury tho, I don't think he expects it to be used after he leaves for good. So, now the villagers are only missing the F ability from the FISS standard of supers (flight, invulnerability, strength & speed). They pretty much are already unstoppable in any kind of combat in this world as a combined tank+dps+scout unit (baring a complete lack of fighting technique and likely need to be caught by surprise). Why do they need advanced metallurgy for weapons? I suppose bronze weapons would snap on first use if they really swung them.

Also just realized, given the outsized effect the vitamin boosted food & drink, energy drinks and beauty products have on these people (nm just normal food w/ earth fertilizer)... Valetta could basically build herself a comic superheroine body if she thought to/could convince Kazuma to get her some of the various remedies that promise to improve body growth (height, muscle... plot), cause in this world, they'd apparently actually work. If she's insecure already about her 'value' to him, it would be an additional avenue to pursue. smh
