She already had a minor gushing moment over the crisp, fresh Japanese air at one point. Like... you came from a magical pre-industrial society, there's no way your air is somehow grossly inferior to a modern industrial power's countryside.

Because Japan is a magical wonderland where everything is perfect and amazing, I guess.

Her being amazed at the bath or the size of the house or whatever makes sense because those are technological advancements. But the food thing is always dumb because it's over the simplest things. It's not like he gave her an elaborate cake or a really fancy dish. It's a rice ball or miso soup and the fantasy people all cream their pants as if it's the height of cuisine. Even though medieval-level food wasn't all trash or inedible gruel especially as long as you were anything above a peasant (like, say, a royal knight.)
In fact most of the traditional dishes are from that period. The industrial Revolution banished a lot of them that only could be preserved in rural areas.

Look-up “universal”, so that you won't continue to contradict yourself and waste the time of other people.

(I won't pretend to know Portuguese; you should stop pretending to know English.)
could you explain your definition of universal then? and why stomach growling when someone is hungry would not be?

we have it explained (by someone else) that it is true in real life. not counting manga, I myself remember seeing it in american cartoons and european comic books (the disney ones were brought here localized, but the drawings made it clear it was the original intention too). plus brazilian comics themselves from before anime became popular enough it would be an influence on them (but not the other sources mentioned).

I use the definition found in any standard dictionary. Your English is so poor that you should look-up nearly every word before arguing with what someone else has written in that language. Don't try to dump any part of that job on me now.

And don't blather any more on this subject without first looking-up “universal”.

Again, I like this MC. "I'm rather insulted by this person's view of farmers."
Do foreign people avoid baths and showers?
Well, The French and Englishmen do...

Why does Sera know how to speak Japanese quite clearly?

I am surprised that Jin's isn't more wary of her. He's just thinking Seraphim's a sheltered foreigner. But, I'm sure that he can get charmed by this foreigner!

Seraphim's so amazed by this new kind of farmer, who has high tech baths and amazing food. I'm sure she won't be missing the battlefields anytime soon.

Reason why he's not more wary: HOT GIRL.

adjective: universal
  1. of, affecting, or done by all people or things in the world or in a particular group; applicable to all cases.
    "universal adult suffrage"
    • LOGIC
denoting a proposition in which something is asserted of all of a class.
    • LINGUISTICS
denoting or relating to a grammatical rule, set of rules, or other linguistic feature that is found in all languages.
    • (of a tool or machine) adjustable to or appropriate for all requirements; not restricted to a single purpose or position.
noun
noun: universal; plural noun: universals
  1. a person or thing having universal effect, currency, or application.
    • LOGIC
      a universal proposition.
    • PHILOSOPHY
a term or concept of general application.
    • PHILOSOPHY
a nature or essence signified by a general term.
    • LINGUISTICS
a universal grammatical rule or linguistic feature.
I see nothing in there that makes my point invalid. Yet you refuse to explain yours.

Thus I am taking this as "I have no argument so I will scream the same thing over and over".

To hold that position, you must not know what “all” means, or are so pathetic that you will pretend not to know what it means, or you've forgot what you argued in the beginning. (I'll quote that beginning below.)

That which is universal is true of every member of the relevant set. Not just many members, not even merely most members; all members.
Thus I am taking this as "I have no argument so I will scream the same thing over and over".
Your strange fantasy that I am somehow screaming invites still more pity.

I wrote
Bad enough that manga impute growling stomachs universally to the Japanese; idiotic that they impute them universally to mankind.
And you idiotically argued
This is an universal thing, yes. Maybe not as commonly used as in manga, but still universal.
As if something can be true of everyone though not true of everyone.

Again: Your competence in English is not good enough for you to argue without checking definitions.

So participate, sure. But don't argue outside of the Portuguese discussions.

wow, so your argument is that it has to be literally for everywhere in the world? citing that I saw examples of this coming from 3 of the 5 continents is not enough, my point is invalid if one or two countries do not have it?

I knew it was a possibility, but I was hoping you had a better argument than this. that I would be able to, you know, learn from a discussion online.

and adding in that, as someone already mentioned, this is exagerated but true to real life... as in biology...

You may take the "win". I'm thinking this is too pathetic an argument to keep myself in it.

Nah they’re right. You’re just sour that it’s explained in a correct way that you don’t understand.

I am assuming you are being warned that there are replies to this thread when you visit the forums, since from what I recall that is the default forum behavior. Do I really need to quote you?
And I am not visiting the forums every day, thus why my posts are not right after yours (especially since I was unable to communicate much recently, but that is not relevant).

As far as I can understand your "explanations" are limited to "read a dictionary" and "don't bother trying to understand it because this is not your language". That, to me, is the behavior of someone that would rather leave the conversation pretending to have given the last word - thus the "covering your ears and screaming you are right" part. The fact you focus so much on this point does not help change my mind about this in any way either.

You two can't claim I am not understanding you then not try to explain it better. Or in a different way. Or at least, can't honestly believe anyone would accept it as a valid point.

I am willing to be taught the meaning you are aiming for. Or rather, was; you are the one that claimed you don't need to explain since my native language makes me unable to understand, and thus your extra-antagonistic behavior about this makes me see your words with suspicion from now on.

I’m not reading all that so I’ll just shorten since you’re making it up as you go to again reduce the blow to your pride. Basically you’re saying I can’t make the effort to try and show how you’re right and are now sounding like a victim. Ps here you go
of, relating to, or characteristic of all or the whole: universal experience.

applicable everywhere or in all cases; general: a universal cure.
affecting, concerning, or involving all: universal military service.
used or understood by all: a universal language.

Death is the most universal experience possible, true, but it's also the most personal

That claim would have been more believable if you hadn't repeated the dishonest trick after it was noted.
Do I really need to quote you?
I didn't tell you to quote me. Notice that I tagged you without quoting you in my previous message. I told you to tag me.
And I am not visiting the forums every day,
No one is telling you to visit every day. I'm telling you that you're dishonorable for not tagging replies, especially when they come after days of delay.
"don't bother trying to understand it because this is not your language"
Falsifying quotations is also dishonorable. I told you to understand by checking the dictionary, and not to argue without first understanding by checking the dictionary, because your grasp of English isn't as good as you fantasize.
That, to me, is the behavior of someone that would rather leave the conversation pretending to have given the last word - thus the "covering your ears and screaming you are right" part.
No, even you understand that no one is screaming that you are just not entitled to free lessons.
You two can't claim I am not understanding you then not try to explain it better.
Yes, we can, and we may. You are not entitled to free lessons. And your lazy sense of entitlement makes the thought of teaching you repugnant.
I am willing to be taught the meaning you are aiming for.
Open a dictionary and read it carefully then.
you are the one that claimed you don't need to explain since my native language makes me unable to understand,
No one said that, you pitiful liar. You don't understand English and so shouldn't argue in it without carefully checking the dictionary, whereas presumably you understand Portuguese well enough not to make so much of a fool of yourself when arguing in it.

And in the end, they're just arguing about semantics- the point of language is to be able to communicate and as long as the other party understands then there really shouldn't have been a problem, but these cunts think they own the English language and everyone else should adhere to their rules.
