Don't stop the timer yet. He almost broke her completely. Ground her down to the tiniest of nubs. She'll be spending years rebuilding herself, and she may well never fully recover. That nervous voice in the back of her mind is always going to be there, whispering that she's a worthless failure and doesn't deserve whatever happiness she manages to find.
And she's already missed her shot at going pro with her baseball career. She could've made a good living doing something she loved, but that chance is gone now even if she makes a miraculous instant full reversion to who she was before he started poisoning her mind. He's ALREADY fundamentally changed the course of her life.
Also, his fucking stupid head game had pushed her right to the brink, but I think she was on a different bad end route than he'd planned. He'd instilled a serious hatred in her by going all-stick-no-carrot, and forgot she needed to think he'd stand by her and love her even if she WAS a hopeless failure as a woman and a human being. If the only road forward in life that she could still see left her stuck with this hateful creep forever, life's exit ramp may be preferable to actually living with the monstrous little creature. That last tiny shred of willpower and self-respect could burn itself out denying him the win.
There is nothing they can do to that little shit to EVER even the scales, but I hope he suffers for a long, long time. I hate him so very much.
