Heatwaves have arrived early, with high temperatures during the night, and even yesterday that wasn't that hot I couldn't open the windows to sleep because of the insane noise of football fans being as loud as they could (it's obnoxious when countryfolks only care about whether the Spanish team wins or not, same for clubs). An AC is not enough, I need to migrate to Finland or similar if I want to survive past 2030.

Iceland has two problems: volcanos and postage costs (they need to import mostly everything). Going on a vacation is one thing, but depending on the area there's curfew and periods of evacuation when the volcanos increase their activity, and that happens yearly to populated areas. And in Finland you can bump up with Shikanokos.

Rant:

Bought Battlefield V for $3.50. Had really low expectation, but I thought it's only 3 bucks, so why not give it a shot? OK. So the game is beautiful. Very much so. And... that's about it. Maps are mostly bloody awful. They look great, no doubt. But they don't play great. Some maps are too open, and you can easily get shot from any where! It's also a pain to have to sprint toward the objective if your spawn is too far away, because your squads are wiped out. Some spawns don't have vehicles, or not enough. Look to your left, right, ahead. All clear. Let's sprint! Bfft Got shot by an enemy from either direction you just checked. Your teammates are either really good or obviously mentally challenged, rarely somewhere between.

Even in infantry based maps, this is still a frustrating occurrence. You think the area is clear? Nope. Get shot by someone who popped out of nowhere from either direction you just checked. Sometimes, I can't even find a single teammate near the objective we were supposed to capture. WTF? And the gunplay... Somehow, it feels worse than the previous games. Guns feel even shittier. As if I'm shooting a BB gun. The classic problem I have with all FPS games is I can never seem to do enough damage to kill someone. This is no exception. 5 shots to the body? 80-90 damage. Get shot once = dead. Oh, and headshots in this game are not one-hit-kill. I often shot someone in the head 2-3 times only for them to still survive and run away or kill me in one hit. Hit detection seems even worse than BF4, and that game is 13 years old. Netcode is probably shit, too. That further explains why I can shoot someone 5 times and still not get the kill.

Cherry on top? Hackers. This game has plenty of hackers, many are Chinese. They mainly use speedhack, and it's very obvious when you see them in your team. If you have to fight against them, forget it. I don't like FPS games as much as before anymore, but sill feel like coming to play every now and then. But this game is even worse than CS2, and that game feels worse than CS Source. Maybe these modern shooters are just not for me anymore. I want to play something to relieve stress, not become more tired. 3/10?

What happened to Devour, anyway? Mod?
lol I play bf5 with the boys so I feel your pain.

The guy got banned cause he was telling someone to kys

Yeah,

If you don't mind having to thaw your underwear out in the oven before putting it on in the Morning. ☠️
Eh, I'm from the Upper Midwestern US. We get a week every winter where we don't get above 0 F (-18 C) for a high, and a week every summer where the dewpoint stays above 70 F (21 C) overnight. I literally just sat through a (reported, probably not actual) tornado passing through the neighborhood about half a mile away less than an hour ago. Weather doesn't really scare me that much.

Now the volcanoes? Fuck that shit.

damn that sounds like a pain in the ass (i hate the cold) in my part of the us winters are usually from 80 to high 90s occasional 70s to low 60s and thats when its cold. It rarely gets 50 or below but when it does I swear I feel like im gonna freeze to death don't know how yall put up with that crap. only ever seen snow once in my life and it was covered in dirt so it looked like shit lol. now summers is where its at 100 is the norm 110 on bad days which isnt so bad as long as theres some wind and you got some cover (i.e a hat)

Yeah, you learn how to function in layers in the winter. Honestly I can deal with that better than the hot - I can easily put on another layer, but I'm only willing to take so much off in public. And the hot's okay... if there's a bit of breeze and if the humidity is tolerable. The problem here is that we get stretches like today - the high was only 95 (35 C) this afternoon, but the dewpoint was 75 (24 C) at 6 this morning and didn't budge until the storms came through in the early evening, so sweat doesn't evaporate quickly enough to do any good, and I just wind up soaking my undershirt when I go out to walk.

Worst I ever had it was at the auto racetrack about half an hour east of town. I was working in the banquet kitchen at the major convention center here, but we also had the contract for the food service to the suites and the infield meals (drivers and crews, press, etc.), so most of us would go work out there for a week or so before and during the race weekends.

The main kitchen was in the middle of about a hundred acres of pavement, sharing a space with the main concession stand (and its big open counters), so there was no meaningful air conditioning - we tried to keep a couple big propeller fans positioned to keep the air moving through. But with four double ovens and a steamer running full tilt, plus fryers and hot hold boxes, even that was a losing effort.

One particular race weekend it was 100+ air temperature for about four days in a row. It was 120 in there by 10am on the last day of events, and it kept climbing. Folks were falling out at the rate of about two an hour. We were working in rotating five minute shifts, then going out to sit for half an hour or so in a shady spot on the pavement by our refrigerated trailer, slamming cold water to try to cool off as much as possible before going back in. I am not entirely sure how someone didn't literally die that weekend.

So yeah, humidity sucks, and I'm really glad I eventually got a desk job. Hang in there.

Why are processor names so complicated... 6650U? 14300K? What are these numbers...
