Throws phone in frustration at the grotesque level of stupid over the last two chapters—FFS!—I SAID THIS WAS BULLSHIT! YOU DON'T GET TO MAKE YOUR ENTIRE FUCKING CHARACTER OP AND WISE BEYOND THEIR YEARS AND THEN THEN THEM INTO A COMPLETE DUMBFUCK WEAKLING THE NEXT MOMENT! FFS!—Please, fo God's sake, make the anime resolve this bullshit satisfactory! I can't take it! I legit can't even finish the chapter this pisses me off so much—and this is one of my favorite currently serialized comics! 😭💯 Screw bullshit writing! Death to bad plot and incongruous character development! DEATH! DEATH! DEATH! 😭😭😭💯

If you need me—I'll be over here mourning the death of one of my most favorite series that pulled a needlessly bad plot derailment. Even IF the MC is THIS DUMB, ZEE BUTLER AND ARCHDUKE OF HELL AIN'T! o_O Please, stop treating your readers as dumb! If you suddenly made your MC too OP, you need a PLAUSIBLE EXPLANATION for how the villain pulled this off—where's that EVIL GOD or whatever to give some HAND WAVING justification‽ 😭🤦🏾‍♂️💯

These past two chapters alone may make me have to detract a rating point for this series for unbelievable, disbelief breaking stupid…

[Reader in need of emotional support from all this dumb.]

I just wanted to thank the translator / scanlation team for translating this chapter! I know that I (and probably others) have been venting about how frustrated we are with this particular chapter in the way it went, but that doesn't change the fact that I am extremely thankful (And I hope others are as well!) For the time and effort it took to translate this chapter and all those they've worked on previously (as well as a shout out to all the other teams who've been working on this comic previously)!

Thank you so much for the work that you committed! Thank you for what you've done! Thank you for your time, your efforts, and your generosity!

While we may all be frustrated with how stupid the chapter went and how frustrating it is where plot and character development has led us thus far, we're suddenly the characters have become idiots it would seem, completely inepted incapable when they were very capable previously, all in some strange effort to suddenly increase tension or make the protagonist seem less confident than they have been because they're suddenly realizing, "Of, shit! We made the MC TOO OP!" Despite suddenly changing that without meaningful context spoiling the story and ripping all of us readers out of the fantasy world due to breaking the suspension of disbelief. Heh. 🤦🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️😑 We can't least be thankful for the time and effort that brought us this chapter!

I don't know who the blame falls for the story and the particular execution, and it may in fact be a problem of the original light novel all of this is based off! 🤷🏾‍♂️

Either way, that doesn't change the effort and sacrifice to bring us this, so I want to thank everyone involved even the people that we might be frustrated with, since they may not even been the ones who got to decide how this played out.

Thank you all! And I look forward to seeing where the story goes even when we want to throw things at the author of the light novel, et. al., for perpetuating what we consider stupid! Let's face it, if it wasn't for their work, we wouldn't even have something to get pissed off about! 😜🤣💯

so, I don't think the events of this chapter are any more contrived than the rest of this story.
that is, the whole story is terrible. This is where a guy spends four years in a forest with no human contact, forgets his family after the first, and then goes back to school like nothing happened (doesn't he have a wolf and a dragon from that? where have they been during the various escorting duties?)
this is a story where the guy walks into town, and is solving complex societal problems within literal days--basically by waving his hand. hell, the ringleaders literally walk to his house to be captured... including the goddamn accountants.
honestly, authority figures having their hands tied by needing evidence to convict is the BEST written part of this vapid swill.

I agree with many here that the chapter makes no sense.

Everybody points out how Cain is OP as hell and should have had many ways to deal with the situation. Between the demon and his bugs, the all purpose magic he can cast at near-god level, and the political connections he has... he can't do a single thing against Corgino.
That's already pretty bad writing. But I think we've missed two things.

First, Cain destroying Corgino's mansion by accident. Someone mentioned that the LN had him do it out of anger, which would have worked better. Not very moral, but a credible human reaction. Here, that's because a bug showed up and he tried to slice it with wind magic. Bug that he knew was around and was a subordinate to the demon by his side. And magic that he couldn't control because... well, it's not like he has years of experience with magic... oh, wait! Also, if he can suddenly slice a mansion in two because he was a little surprised, how is his own home still standing? This was likely introduced for comedic effect and/or to erase Cain's impulsive behavior, but it introduces a major issue with Cain's magic control.

Second, on multiple occasions Corgino was shown to be stupid and easy to manipulate. And suddenly, in a single chapter, he's changed into a clever mastermind who manages to erase all evidence in a couple of hours at most. (And that's a generous estimate.) He had contingency plans for the slave trader's shop, the witnesses and his own home. In particular, he managed to kill all the witnesses without anybody noticing. And there were no guards or bugs to monitor them despite their importance.

The whole thing reeks of a MC who is too overpowered for his own story, so he must be dumbed down to make sure a small time villain can keep villaining for a while longer. The author should forget Corgino because obviously he's incapable to make a consistent criminal/political intrigue. Let him focus back on the power fantasy and adventuring against an evil god.

At last someone who isn't outright complaining about MC being a God and not killing the Pig Marquis right away.

As for the plot, politically while MC has a lot of power because of his engagement with the Princess & the Knight General, but MC (who is currently a Count) is still lower ranked than that Pig Marquis, so by law he can't do anything without proof.

As for his strength, i know that MC is OP, but he is only that in his powers not his capacity to handle politics.
And not everything can be handled with just strength.
Yeah he is basically a God, but that power is primarily for him to fight natural disasters or the evil god. Not some lowlife scum (it's like asking to use a mega crane to open a door).

Well, in the end i guess the "That" the Marquis mentioned might be related to a Fragment of the Evil God, which would allow MC to go full force after him.
You know you are smart

I'm pissed, but I'll keep to my hopes that the fatso will eventually no longer have his head on his shoulders on future chapters.

I'll say, Dalmatia should've had one of his subordinates have a "one-on-one" with the marquis and make some chopped pork to make him squeal the truth.

Please tell me this wasn't dropped
I just added a page at the end explaining why we haven't uploaded the latest chapter and will probably take our time for the next one too. Sorry for not saying so earlier :(

find me a reality where a side character nobody on the bottom rims of nobility can be involved in assasination plots, lese majeste, human trafficking and is still completely unpunished because the author needs a villain. He eventually does another stupid thing and get his comeuppence, and its completely written off like nothing besides a small mention about his son being a peasant now
reason ppl are saying its bad writing is cause he's literally meeting with the fucking criminals, at least take him into custody to investigate, not let him go free and burn the evidence of his involvement literally in front of them.
said side character is a Marquis which is the highest rank a noble can have if theyre not related to the royal family. a king cant just execute a noble of that rank without any evidence to show he committed a crime. doing so would result in said king being overthrown by the anti-king faction (which said side character is part of) and a puppet being installed. bad writing would be having him executed and nothing bad happening in the country due to it.

they didn't even investigate him nearly causing the assassination of another country's saint or kidnapping and trafficking in a world with magic, the King's an incompetent moron to begin with and his country is held together by threads because he happened to have a demi-god choreboy isekaied into his kingdom. You know what real bad writing is? letting him get away with everything with 0 punishment or investigations until he makes a deal with the demon and dies because he's literally fist fighting with demi-gods not because he ever gets punished by the law.

There are incompetent kingdoms in isekai series and then there's this series where literally, the kingdom would be destroyed if it wasn't for jesus. Also there is no significant anti-king faction the dukes are on the king's side and would've been a great time to squash but of course he does nothing and just rants about how out of control choreboy is.

They have zero evidence to show he broke any laws and I’m not to sure he was even in on the attempted assassination of the saintess. Sure they could just ignore the law and have him executed anyways but do you seriously think the king would stay king for very long if he did that? None of the nobles would tolerate a king that is willing to ignore the law and kill a noble as high up as a Marquis as that could very easily happen to them as well.

I get that you lot love wuxia series where the MC is a murder hobo that kills anyone and their entire clan if said someone so much as steps on their shoes but that ain’t how these series go Chief. Having a MC that follows the law is a good thing.

Btw you said they didn’t try to investigate the kidnapping but this is false. They tried to get evidence of his involvement but it all got destroyed before they could get it. Not really much they can do in that situation Chief

they live in a magic world where the guy is a peon. You're making so many excuses for him. Do you understand the concept of a king its not a democracy its a dictatorship, and given he has the dukes on his side yeah they would. at the very least a punishment. There is no relevant anti-king faction in the fucking series you're just making up excuses for bad writting. try ousting the king and you're literally going to die for treason

I don't watch wuxia series. "MC that follows the law is a good thing" yeah that's why we have this shit when a criminal literally gets away with borderline murder and only dies because he ends up trying to physically kill the MC himself because we have the most incompetent king imaginable. Its bad writing. But w/e keep making excuses for bad writing, "the king would be deposed" by a faction that doesn't exist, "the mc is a law abiding citizen" in a country that's rampant with corruption human trafficking and an incompetent king, also i guess blowing up his house as revenge is being a law abiding citizen, "he's a high ranking noble he can't be punished" or have an ongoing investigation into his connections.

Since you want to use ad honimiens, lets get real you just want an excuse for bad writting and let everything go as long as it's MC is OP he cares much about human life don't punish a villain whose tried to murder people life is important, the author probably has a reason. You just have low standards

said guy is the highest rank a noble can be without being related to the royals. what part of this do you not understand?

a king is not a dictator. if they were then i guess Britian is now ruled by a dictatorship. Monarchs can get away with alot however they can also be killed if the nobles rebel and have him killed so a puppet can now be king if they go too far against the nobles. this happened many times in RL so im not sure why youre acting like it never did

so who is going to kill the nobles when the king has no more loyal soldiers? you really should just admit you have zero idea what youre talking about

you literally want the MC to disregard the laws of his nation and execute a high ranking noble despite having no evidence of any crimes. as far as im concerned you're a wuxia lover.

while there indeed was human trafficking in this scene im not sure where youre getting that the country has tons of it going on.

he sliced the house on accident cause he idiotically got spooked by a bug. im not sure where youre getting it was to get revenge.

Since you want to use ad honimiens, lets get real you just want an excuse for bad writting and let everything go as long as it's MC is OP he cares much about human life don't punish a villain whose tried to murder people life is important, the author probably has a reason. can you even quote where i attacked you or used ad hominins?

the series has it's problems sure but having the MC follow the law aint one of em. having a huge amount of power doesnt mean you get to do whatever you want. have you ever heard of "with great power comes great responsibility"? i bet you think that Cain should have gone to the holy country and just slaughtered all the people behind the attempted assassination of the loli saintess and also made sure to kill every person int their families up to the th generation.

the series got a 7/10 for me on the stars. why are you pretending that i think this is a masterpiece of a series? i think it's good but nothing that special. a series needs to be on the level of Tensei Slime, Kumo Desu, Death March, Death Mage and Shield Hero for me to consider it amazing, a gem or a masterpiece. this series aint on their level. but do go on about how i have low standards

I'll interject here.

There are different forms of monarchy. In an absolute monarchy, a king is a dictator. And this seems like such a setting as they don't seem to have a constitution or a parliament to balance his power. The fact that he's an overall benevolent king doesn't detract from his power. If anything, it reinforces it: most nobles are on his side, and there doesn't seem to be a cohesive faction against him. To the point that Corgino seems to be an isolated case.

That said, I agree that even in the most absolute regimes loyalty from the people is still required to some extent because the leader is still but an individual. Should he prove himself too abusive, he will be deposed... by force if need be. Then again, a generous application of propaganda and support from the right people can keep you in power for a while. Check North Korea as a real life example.

All that said, the king here likely has the power to punish Corgino arbitrarily. (More than a slight tap on the wrist as was dealt a couple of times.) But the fact that he looks for evidence is what makes him a good leader that has the trust of his people, from nobility to commoners... and the one demi-god that also happens to be his subject.

For my part, the critique of the writing is not on the attitude of the king. It's the powerlessness of Cain, who is literally a demi-god at this point, assisted by probably the best demon for spying and scouting, and the sudden hyper-competency on Corgino's side at covering his tracks where previous chapters depicted him as an incompetent buffoon with an attitude.
To me, this role reversal is not comical, it's frustrating instead. It breaks continuity and when this happens... then anything can happen, as illogical as it seems. There is no stake or tension anymore because the story will just do anything without regards to - or even outright against - previously established facts. For me, this means the story drops from a "decent but not masterpiece" 7/10 to a "barely average" 5. Maybe even lower depending on the next few chapters.

Let's be clear though: any trope can be done right. Even role reversal. It just can't be sudden and unexplained other than for a short comedic effect. If that's supposed to be part of your main story, it needs to be consistent within the story flow.

A bug. Threw off his spell.

And allowed the villain time to destroy the evidence.

While the MC has the ability to just teleport.

Wow.
