This series has been amazing (I have only read the manga adaptation so if something happens later I am unaware), but why? Why is it that so many amazing yuri have to be tragic? Especially when there are numerous creative ways that such events could have been avoided. I understand that this may just be what the author wanted, but it's just sad that one of the few fantasy/magical world/isekai(ish) yuri/GL becomes a tragic one. Don't get me wrong as again I think this series is amazing and I will continue to enjoy it, however the saturation of the yuri/GL genre with tragic/toxic/ generally sad tropes is extremely high and personally I want to see more without. Not that there is anything wrong with those tropes, but it seemed very unnecessary and very abrupt as if it was just jammed into the story "just because" to make immortality seperation the only way. There doesn't need to be zero conflicts or hardships or difficulties, but when it comes out of left field and is immediately the only possible solution basically it becomes irksome. Now if they had brought it in as a "hey this is a thing in this world" and tried many different things at least a couple of times it wouldn't be so jarring, irksome, or destitute. Maybe they'll resolve this in some way that is satisfying or clever, but for now I am just sad that it turned out this way. Fight was also cool but a bit underwhelming. THE KISS THO WAS SO CUTE ADORBS!!!! ~~<3 <3 <3 <3 EEEEEEEEEEEEE <3 <3 <3 <3~~

this really hit me in the feels, couldnt stop myself from crying at multiple parts, especially at the end

i feel like some of the words said especially hit me hard personally from someone whos had the same kind of thoughts before somewhat, having to fit the mold of (as an example) a 'ideal queen' having to give up on what you really want to do just to succeed in life, sort of becoming a husk of what other people want you to be, to become their ideal 'you'

i really wish it was as simple as being able to do the things you love without having anything weigh down on you, being able to do anything without responsibilities would be a dream

i wish i could live without worry, being able to live without worrying about what i'll have to do next, what responsibilities i have to uphold and how i can meet up to the expectations of other people, because the last thing i'd want to be is a dissappintment, and yet selfishly i want to live without responsibility

sorry for getting personal there, i really shouldnt be venting about it here out of all places, and it must sound pretty stupid haha, but if that isnt a testament to how much this manga has moved me then i dont know what is

20/10, a masterpiece of art and writing, atleast in my books, if you havent already started reading this, please give it a read!! you wont regret it, i guarantee that ^_^

To be a contrarian to the previous comment, I will say the manga isn't that good actually. It heavily relies on you not actually thinking about how the situation looks from the side. For some reason all characters in the story treat Anis like an idiot who cannot make her own decision, and force what they think best on her, while author conveniently ignores that this is the same thing other nobles would do to her.

The issue of her becoming Queen and having to marry someone else is for some magical reason isn't applied to Euphie. If they could just rule together, what was the entire point of Euphie giving up her humanity for it. Again, conveniently ignored.

Overall this is definitely a decent read if you turn off your brain but it starts going severely downhill around the fight with the prince. That entire ordeal makes zero actual sense, and it's only worse from there.

7/10, if author put a bit more thought into writing that last arc of the manga would've been an easy 9.

Euphie pulls a sword in the stone moment. Nobles base their right to rule on the fact that their ancestors did what Euphie did, and Euphie is in no rush to have kids anymore. She's also spent her whole life learning how to run the kingdom and making connections with other nobles, since she was raised as the queen consort. This was part of the justification for her becoming Anis' assistant at the start and why she ran the presentation at the Ministry.

Anis on the other hand never went to the academy, never mingled with other nobles, and didn't inherit the one trait that defines nobility. She had nothing but her blood as her claim, which is why they looked at her as a breeding vessel. Remember there's also tensions between the nobles and the royal family left over from the rebellion during Anis' grandfather's rule. Nobles, especially from the ministry of magic faction, aren't going to respect someone with no magic just because she's the daughter of the king.

Also, to bring up the light novels, there are still more books after the current point in the manga that deal with those issues.

Euphy still doesn't get accepted that easily, and her relationship with Anis isn't revealed to the public until the people who would oppose them no longer have the power to do so.

Iirc, the author stated they weren’t focused on a GL romance while writing earlier volumes. This clearly changed as we’ve seen in this manga adaption. And there’s likely to be even more romance in the light novels!

Turns out the manga at 54 chapters and anime at 12 episodes only adapts up to the end of volume 3, out of the 13 light novels. Nope I’m really motivated to read the novels and finish this story proper.

…just please have a happy ending. I don’t want our girls to face a tragic or even bittersweet end.
