He got too deeply involved with Kaeha and her passing is still 'recent' to him.
That's the curse of the long living people, in a game I play where dragons and elf(not the long living kind) fought a 1000 years long war, the elf didn't even know why they were fighting anymore, but the dragons were still burning with hatred and revenge for the elf leader betray of their kind, because their sense of time is so different, 1000 years felt like 1 week ago.

It's probably the same with Aesir, memories may fade away over time, but the truly marking one will life inside of him his whole life.

I'd say it's more that because he was human before reincarnating as high elf that some part of him still isn't used to the concept of 'outliving everyone you know'

You know what? I completely forgot that this was the premise of this manga since it never come up at all in the story.
Yeah Aesir isn't just an eccentric High Elf, it's an reincarnated Isekai story.

Ouch, I did not expect his pained realization to turn into him no longer making promises to see people he cares about again. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised considering what happened though.

He started the series off as a wandering student. Eyes wide with curiosity and not really understanding the effect his aging would have on those he formed relationships with. Now it's so wonderful to see him become a wandering Master. Connecting the knowledge he learned from across the lands and across species and fields in ways no one else can. Passing down knowledge from some of whom passed and connecting generations. I love seeing him even grow as a parental figure and just in general better understanding the weight of his promises and passage of time. It's taken a lot of hardship to get here, but even though he doesn't look a day older, boy has the MC matured SO much.

I like this series, but I feel like it needs a little more breathing room. This whole arc was only 2 and a half chapters! So much happened in this last chapter and I never really got a feeling for what motivated any of the children or where they'll be going in the future. I know it's not their story but it kinda makes it feel like they're just props for the MC rather than their own people for us to get invested in. I'm not expecting 20 chapter arcs, but it feels so weirdly paced even compared to the earlier arcs.

Thanks for the TL! Tugging at the heartstrings as usual, are we? Bittersweet melancholy time and again. I'm curious whether they'll meet again, I fear why they'll meet again and yet I hope they meet again. That said leaving these questions as well as his brooding about what's going behind my pupil's mask unanswered carries its own beauty, the beauty of the open-ended unknown. Any other High Elf would never even come into contact with these tribes, let alone breathe in their culture and exhale valuable lessons in return. At the same time I believe that every person he truly touches will in the end contribute to and form a global network. The world Aesir is unknowingly shaping may one day bloom into the most fervent flower. Until then, I hope he will still return to say goodbye to those we left as kids and young 'uns.

A nice, no-drama conclusion, fitting of the Immortal Elf. He just casually spent ten years raising a few kids, neither intruding too much on their affairs nor letting anyone get too close to his own. And when his work was done, he left, leaving a lasting legacy(?) but never to be seen again.

Quite annoyed he never bothered to ask her what she actually wanted, behind her mask. Why just presume and worry, when you could simply query and advise?
Aesir as a character feels very much like he doesnt want to actually know. He's the kind of person to ignore and/or shut off connections with people selectively because he's always thinking about his lifespan.

I have to wonder whether Tseleng is a reincarnated person? How would someone living nomad life solely on the plains be able to imagine a modern garbage disposal appliance?

Tseleng grew up too fast 😭😭😭

Anyway, I almost forgot about the other master of Aesir, the one he learnt magic from while he taught smithing to him. I guess since he is human he already passed away huh, wonder if we'll ever see his legacy, a genuine magic sword.

I honestly though he was going to smash Tseleng before leaving.

I also just remembered... Did we get a conclusion with the innkeeper girl? She's like really old now, right? That one's gonna be a real tough one when it comes up...
Nonna, from Jampemone? In chapter 6 Aesir is mentioned to be 164, and we meet Nonna as a 10 year old girl in chapter 7. Some amount of time has passed between 6 and 7 so Aesir could be 165 at this point. We got an age update on Aesir in chapter 25, he was 209, and a little over 5 years have passed in this chapter, so he's ~214 now. That would make Nonna ~60 give or take a year or so. That also means Wynn is now ~51
