Manga is doing a pretty good job at being entertaining compared to the WN. Should be an interesting chapter coming up.

I'm surprised they were that excited about magic tricks even though they have magic.

I'm really looking forward to this arc without his sister.

Every single MC remember almost every receipe perfectly and can make it with middle age style utensil also perfectly.
Honestly, most cooking isn't that complicated. And most of the time you go by taste, not by exact recipe.

And every other character in the manga looooooves the new, strange food and like it better than his/her hometown cooking.
Yeah, this is a bit grating sometimes. Especially when they bring up the exact same type of food porn description every single time, where rich flavours melt, spread, permeate, suffuse, overflow, and everything is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside which brings it all together. Read it all before.

Actual adventures in a fantasy world with magic and monsters getting that stoked just because Al added a little performance and theatrics to his storage magic is peak comedy 😂

I’m really glad that the sister didn’t come along, probably would make the arc ten times better. Honestly one of the reason I’m rating this manga a bit low is because of how kinda abusive the sister are (and the mother along with other female characters really).

tbf considering usually isekai are set on medieval era the way they cook then are pretty much "bland" in comparison to now.

They had lots of stuff to spice up and flavour their food with: salt, pepper, cinnamon, garlic, thyme, mint, oregano, chives, horseradish, rosemary, basil, nutmeg, honey, sage, cheese, butter, onions, turnips, plus lots of fruits and berries. And that's not an exhaustive list.

You're not being "fair".

You've presented an extended list of materials to make food flavorful sure but the caveat is there's a lot of factors still to consider like location, availability of actual good supply, a chef that's willing to experiment and potentially "waste" resources, cooking utensils, also hygiene issues are some off the top of my head.

Like I understand it's tiring to see authors use food as the sign of "superiority" for the time difference on isekai series... but you've already mentioned that it's the "easiest" for the MC to "remember"/"recreate" and for the audience to see the time gap. Like the other thing authors could(and have had) used are stuff that a lot more people hate(like technology or the culture itself with slaves and such). So cooking "egostroking" is like the tamest of them to use.

Most of those were readily available, even imported spices like pepper. And in this manga we're also talking about nobles, not commoners. Most of the concerns you listed were non-issues, and that's for less wealthy people.

With this I'm not talking about whatever the author's doing. I'm talking about your misconceptions about the medieval era, since you used that as a justification.

I know most authors are crap at cultures other than their own, but there's a difference between portraying modern stuff as better, and portraying old stuff as worse than it was so the modern stuff looks better.

My "misconceptions" about the medieval era is pretty much how it's portrayed by every media ever though, food is bland(stale bread, soup, etc), health and hygiene is terrible(black plague), etc.... so unless you're claiming that you're a historian and knows how things were actually back then my "misconceptions" is the general outlook.

Honestly I'm also on the side that wants to see an isekai that makes the knowledge and technology MC brings from their world be "less superior" than that on the world they get brought to or something, but that is a difficult setup and I doubt most isekai author would take that challenge.

And Vikings had horned helmets, Greek and Roman sculptures were white, medieval castles were bare rock structures, knights had to be lifted up on horses, everything was muddy, almost no one could read, fire arrows were used much at all, etc, and that's not even going into controversial racial stuff.

All of those are public misconceptions. That doesn't make them true. Hiding behind others who're wrong doesn't make you less wrong.

I don't even know what you're trying to prove at this point other than making yourself look like an intellectual that's higher than the common masses thus showing your opinion is more valid... but the way the world works is it feeds on the common masses not the "truth"... so as much as people hate on overused tropes it won't die... just as as much as people seem to hate isekai we still keep getting more and more of them.

If my sibling tsundere me physically everyday I’d probably prefer live alone, and she’s the eldest among the siblings.

it’s more baffling that nobody noticed Roomba’s eyepatch can switch places. So it’s just chuuni prop.
