Wait, was the food poisoned or what?
Well not exactly poisoned in the sense of the intent to harm. All the foods and drinks aren't regularly given for a reason, since they pretty much pack a wallop to your body; basically the equivalent of you being charged on nothing but energy drinks with other similiar benefits. Not sure if it's just Jinshin or what, but the key point the softshelled turtle is an aphrodisiac. So...

Thanks for the translation! Much appreciated! Keep up the good work!!
On other news, as expected MaoMao having a strong resistance to eat such delicacies. Probably a good idea that she's eating them rather Jinshin and the others...not sure if the food is specially prepared for Jinshin but if it is...WELP.

Thank you so much for the translation! Fantastic job as always 😙👌✨

Ouch, all the men in that room felt Maomao’s story huh 🙃😂😖 Ouch! And dang, Maomao’s Poison Powerhouse resistance is to be feared and admired 😂

“The trials of youth”
This line in particular makes me laugh because other than Gao Shun, everyone in that room is about 2-3 years from each other in age 😆 Doesn’t feel too far though to modern behaviors/mindsets of their age range though x)
IF I’m remembering correctly…
Jinshi’s really about 17 years old; Maomao’s about 16; and Basen I’m not too certain of but I’d say 15 /16 as well? Also, Consort Gyokuyou is about 19 y/o.

Feel free to confirm or correct me, if I’m wrong 😄🙂

Thanks indeed for the translation.
I started buying the Square Enix digital books and realized they removed many non-politically correct remarks, which is a shame.
For instance, in chapter one page 33, while the Mangadex version translated MaoMao thoughts to "I assume I'm going to be fucked now", the official translation contains "...he caught me", which loses a lot of meaning about Mao Mao mindset and what she expects from the social difference between Jinshi and her. That's really too bad for a seinen manga.
I really wonder what is the original text and if indeed the Square Enix translation is watered down to this extent, I'll stop buying it and will wait for another truer to the original text.
