Kyo and Anna had to spend less time together because of the way the last volume ended with the agency and because they're both busy now with Anna's job and Kyo studying. This has Anna feeling down, because she wants to spend time with Kyo but doesn't want to burden him by telling him that since Kyo looks to be doing fine on his own without her (you know, like he said during his confession), which is why she ran away at the concert when she saw him with friends.

Kyo realizes this chapter that he was being narrowminded, hyperfocusing on studying and the future because he can build the relationship up in his head. He may be able to feel Yamada's precense everywhere but Yamada's the type that gets lonely and insecure about how affectionate she should be. So he reassures her by saying he'll always want her with him.

exactly, it's peak woman brain. we needed all this build up to show how important it was for kyo to fix it... but "fixing it" turned out to mean, making her feel better for a moment, not doing anything objective with cause and effect to solve their problems
