Very simple thing to say to the other group - "step up, or shut up"
If they can't be organized enough to meet their own goals they have no right to complain about someone else's.

@bobsburgers You should continue translating this series. You're doing a wonderful job with it with great translation and really fast releases (I know you're close to caught up with the raws).

Really it's a joy seeing you guys updated. It's because of you that I got to really start this series (I was waiting for more chapters before reading) and it has become one of my favorites.

And I never thought that SLC would say something like this to you. I remember that they did the same thing with Gokutsuma Days (uploaded while someone was also working on it), so I don't know why they would have a problem with you doing it the same.

I don't want to read 70+ comments of discourse on the topic, but I guess here's my 2¢

As a reader, I'm enjoying the quick updates bc I'm interested in the series and the chapters seem fairly hq to me. Plus, all scanlations are in a moral/ethical grey zone at best; I don't think anyone is getting permission from IP holders to do these free, unofficial scans.

... But I read a lot of SLC's content and I think that having good relationships with The Community (that being the community of scanlators) is important. I would definitely recommend that @bobsburgers talk to SLC privately and reach an amicable agreement about the project moving forward. Poaching/sniping is Bad Etiquette in the Community, which is widely known but less strict with popular series. This isn't one of those though.

I feel like there's more benefits to working with SLC to reach an agreement if that's still on the table bc there's a lot of communication between several scanlation groups that I've seen (moreso for novel translators but w/e) and it just... idk I think it would be in everyone's best interest, though I'd be sad if cooperation slowed everyone down.

Also I'm disappointed that there's probably more discussion in these comments about this issue than there is in this absolutely wild update. What's happening!!! 😱 Is that little brat being abused in debutante lessons???

Why can't I find any raws to peek into the future??? I can't even search for it on toonkor!!!!

Thank you so much for the fast releases! I'm personally really happy to get to read more chapters of this series so I'd love if you continue translating this!

Thank you for your work.

In one way the easiest way out might be to accept the SLC group for your uploads, giving them the public bragging rights they seem to be looking for while keeping your own delightfully cheerful persona at the end of each chapter.

But that's only if they've been reasonably polite and you think you can keep talking to them. (If they've been rude you can also ask them about it, they might merely have been thoughtless or over-eager)

Best wishes, whatever you end up doing. Keep being a happy breath.

Just continue with what you are doing. The scan group isn’t uploading anything in the past month, and I doubt they were going to release chapters that were not free in raw. You can join if they plan to support you chapter 8 onwards for fast release. It’s all fan work after all, so sort it out which is the best option for you. Please don’t drop.

I wish I can pay to read the raws on the original website. They required South Korea bank account for payment :((

Waiting on jeremy to try to help the mc with these kids ahhh also the debutante instructor needs to chill. Hopefully the maid talks to mc about it soon!! Also ack the aunt is bad news too - she looks ready to use fear as a factor to get the kids on her side.

Thank you for the fast updates!! I'm thrilled to be able to read more of the story so quickly after finding it!

Tbh the scanlation community seems rather,,,unfriendly towards no groups? I can see why they'd feel attached though since SLC already did four or so chapters and i think they try to keep a scheduled update (i could be wrong) but personally i feel like they should let you have this project. You already have a small group of your own, the scans are pretty high quality, you're passionate and enthusiastic, and you're not juggling other projects like they are.

But idk if this argument can hold any weight in a discussion with the group as a whole. If things get out of hand, then you can join them too and try to negotiate some terms. You've already uploaded a few chapters in the span of three days so you'd be a very valuable member imo in terms of quality and speed. I hope this doesn't get too out of hand as a lot of no group translators tend to disappear :/

It's kind of a very over used trope that the teacher of noble children is some sadistic child abuser. Either physically abusive or emotionally or both. After all "spare the cane, spoil the child" was and is a real thing. Comics even make jokes about how you need to beat your children...

Thanks for the translation!

Aunt is definitely bad news, the discipline itself wasnt particularly bad but the face they gave her and the etiquette teacher did seem to be visual shorthand for someone who isn't full of benevolent thoughts.

Although I hope like others have said that she ends up basically absorbing some of the hate mc originally got (along with her brother) since that might make the kdis realise "oh she hasn't actually been anything but neutral or kind to us".

tho the 3 younger kids I guess aren't seeing the big picture right now or realising that things they're unhappy about can be addressed with their "fake mum". And that harassing her till she's sick won't do squat.

Also on the translation front , I'm no scanlator but md has no policy against "sniping" or multiple translations (if I remember correctly that was the case the last time this came up in another series anyway) . If you want to keep doing it and feel fine doing it, you should. Groups get territorial over series but in the end the readers aren't exactly going to care which does it if one is faster and still fairly well done.

since you're asking for an opinion, and after reading some of the comments on here, i think you should continue. please don't drop this. it's quickly become one of my favourite series, and i can't pay for the raws because, one, i can't read korean, and two, i don't have a korean bank account to buy them.
as far as the other team goes, i think you should join them and lead the team, since they're not doing a very good job at being on time with things. that way you can have more people help you with things, and you can release them faster.

if they don't make you the team leader, or don't want to support your next releases, just keep doing what you're doing. you're doing an amazing job. don't give up, ok? it's all fan work anyway - you don't need to worry about being stressed over other people saying "it's wrong" (when it's really not, considering they stopped uploading)

thank you very kindly for your work! keep up the amazing job you're doing!

please continue this series... idk what happened but secret land castle seem a little cranky these days... you can't even access scanlation on their blog because they private everything... they also have taken down some webtoon from other sites... this series was neglected for over a month so i was beyond happy to see you pick them up and double update it regularly...

I don’t pay much attention to scanlation drama and honestly that’s true for probably 90% of readers too. The comment section blew up and the majority of it is people saying the same thing, that they would like you to continue because we want to read the series.

Someone mentioned something about a release schedule for the other group but considering this series is ongoing with 175 (*Correction: 18) chapters, I don’t see the need to wait month(s) to update. I’d hate to see a series with incredible potential like this get forgotten because a team didn’t have the time or resources for it.

I hope you’re not discouraged by what they’ve said to you, and thank you for the translations.

As for the chapter, I’m sure there’s a reason why the MC kept the relatives away in the original timeline. I thought the aunt would try to undermine her but she seems like she’s helping Suri out by being the “bad guy” with the kids. She might be trying to gain the MC’s favor while working her way in to wrest control. Perhaps this way the kids will see for themselves why their extended family is bad news, instead of thinking their stepmother just hates them like in the original.

I’m glad that her relationship already seems to be 1000% improved with Jeremy, with the twins on the way. I hope the tutor doesn't end up damaging her relationships with the staff, in a sort of trade off situation.

*EDIT: When I first posted, Mangaupdates had the series at 175 chapters, but now it's been updated to 18 chapters. It looks like the 175 was for the novel not the manhwa. Sorry for any confusion.

Maybe she should, I don't know, do a proper job as a mother, and they wouldn't hate her? Or is that too much to ask from this idiot of an MC? Instead, she decides to basically push her step-children into the hands of those vile relatives that are scheming against her, and thinks she's doing the smart thing this time around. So, I take it she'll get killed by her relatives at some point in the near future and end up living a third life, in which she finally doesn't screw everything up, huh?

@Krobelus pretty much summed up what I was going to say. Add to that that SLC already has so many other great projects in the works. I only ever worked on scanlating one volume doujinshi exactly because I didn't want readers to be kept waiting for updates and I still feel this way. You're doing a great job with the scanlations and are actually taking a burden off their shoulders by giving them more time to work on their other projects. There are so many chapters released for this story already... it would take them years to catch up at the rate they are going.

And in case it's a passion project for them they shouldn't even care if 20 other people scanlate it too, because then you still want to do it to the best of your own ability.

I love SLC's work so much, and I think it's worth talking to them about webtoon. You're doing an amazing job and at a speed that I'm sincerely loving. If the group gives you the freedom to go on like this, and more: make your work easier with other things like cleaning / editing / translating / etc. The question remains: why not?
