The politics so messed up that Duke Castiel willingly allowed his own daughter Scarlet to die in order to save Adelbide from Faris' influences & the possible doomed future. I don't recollect but is Scarlet aware of her bloodline because now know she couldn't live the life she wanted to live. Thanks for the translations.

And so it begins.

I love how Scarlet's father's expression doesn't really change. Its presentation just shifts until the shoe drops and he is framed as "the villain behind Scarlet's execution." Good stuff.

Damn, we have been given crumbs about this but it's finally revealed for sure. Where is this series going to go now?

Want to clarify about the facts in this chapter

Does tainted blood refers to royal family of the conquered kingdoms, or the Farisian noble families those royalties are married to?

And, Cornelia is granddaughter of the Faris king, so the part about her having succession right for Faris crown is easy to understand.
But how come she is said to inherit the throne to so many kingdoms? Even if her mother is of a tainted blood, she would have only got the heritage of the other royal family her parents are married to, isn't it?

My understanding is that the children born to Farisian high nobility and vassal states were considered tainted, presumably because Farisians believed their blood to be superior to that of the "lesser states".

As for Scarlet and her maternal line, I'm thinking she would have had not necessarily a "right", but a "claim" on titles that were inherited by other Farisian royal descendants. She would've made a good figure-head with legitimacy for the actual masterminds especially with the royal eye color and whatnot.

Behold the biggest coward of the series, it was Scarlet's mom the one with the pants in the relationship btw.
Agreed, there should be so many other ways to avoid Scarlet execution - if father told her it was Faris trap, she would surely understand and cooperate with some other plan like getting her married to some other kingdom farther from Faris, or create some scandal eliminating her from the throne, so many options other than giving her most cruel fate and tainting even her memory among people as despised villainess. Couldn't they even just give her to some Faris important family from the pro-peace faction, strengthening that faction?

Scarlet's execution seems like it could be used as pretext for war as well. Faris could get the proof that Scarlet was falsely executed, which should be easy considering Cecilia knew full well she was innocent, create claim that she was executed because Abelbide rulers discovered she was from Faris family and cruelly murdered Faris' potential queen, bam, invasion. Living Scarlet could at least not want to be Faris puppet, dead Scarlet can be whatever Fair wants her to be.

And it seems they didn't even do shit with those 10 years they got by sacrificing Scarlet. Faris agent is fucking crown princess, assassinating prisoners before they spill and letting enemy roam free at the castle, from which Faris prince and potential ally gets kidnapped, the country is as much shitshow, if not worse, as it was decade ago, and on the brink of getting invaded again. Without Scarlet's ghost saving MC and trying to solve the conspiracy with her, Abelbide would probably already be doomed. What a fucking useless shit of a father.

Finally, a plot twist! 🤩

It's really a recurring theme of maintaining the establishment/status quo, having a(n extreme) nationalist mindset, pure royal blood in otome (kind of here) genre. And honestly, the eye colour symbolising royalty and class stuff... Imagine the inbreeding 😓

Thank you for the chapter!

Goddamn I'm so conflicted about this. On one hand his daughter died because of him on the other hand, he had to do it to save his country.
