Thanks for the translation, I am so enjoying this manga
Forreal. Like, yeah there's instances where I can see it being a good translation for a bully character like this, but with Saki agreeing in her head it very obviously...is not the correct translation, lol. It feels out of character and forced edginess from the translator. Bad choice.Yeah, in a manga about accessibility and disability no less. Gotta knock a few points of the translation for this one. Although, I can see some jerk like that girl using it.
i wonder what that bully’s past is, since apparently they knew each other when they were kids
yeah, it looked like she was projecting her own insecurities about being hard of hearing on Kanon and venting about it.I'm guessing she's also hard of hearing in maybe one ear. It seemed like it irritated her in that one panel.
That's something I was also wonderingWhy can't she listen to the song? She can still kind of hear, especially in her room...
I always think that stuff like that is artistically justified as long as the narrative does not support it.Yeah, in a manga about accessibility and disability no less. Gotta knock a few points of the translation for this one. Although, I can see some jerk like that girl using it.
Thats what I also thought with the whole arch about Kanon´s Middle School friend.Dont Care about the new bitch past, she deserve a slap in the face and this is where Saki annoyed me in this chapter. she cant stand up for herself or Kanon at all, she simply sit there cant say shit and lets the other people talk extremely bad about them… had it been any other person with just a little bit of respect for themselves or their friends they would atleast have talked back to the bitch or slapped her in the face🤦🏼♂️
Harsh words coming from someone stuck in the 00s.i still had some hope since the early chapters were so good. But this degraded into an obnoxious progressive disability masturbation diary with too much angst & drama and no progress at all. This is a yuri work stuck in the 00s. I might pick it up once the next chapter drops and if its shit, i will tell how how shit it is and you will read it. Like you do with all my other posts. Just follow me already.
Kanon isn't completely deaf, but she has lost most of her hearing, she relies heavily on lip reading. Music is way, way, way more complex than speech and she already has issues with this. Add the fact that Kanon was a gifted musician and you can see why she wouldn't want a "subpar" experience. Specially after hearing Saki rave about it.Why can't she listen to the song? She can still kind of hear, especially in her room...
As someone else said, since she internally agrees, it’s inaccurate.I always think that stuff like that is artistically justified as long as the narrative does not support it.
Japan.I don't understand why a deaf person has to participate in something that involves them having to HEAR 😂
Harmony in group and all that, but fuck the people who can't fit I guess
“Re****ed” is a slur in most English-speaking countries for people with intellectual or developmental disabilities. It’s generally only used for describing biological phenomena like stunted growth or spread of something.I've been looking for that mysterious thing y'all already cancelling the translator for, but I can't see anything. Was it edited out? Is it still there but I just don't notice it because it's not something we pay attention to in my culture? Weird, weird.
Anyway, it's kinda curious to see if the new bully girl is really hard of hearing, herself. She doesn't strike me as such a bad person, more like an anguished one. I definitely noticed her cup her ear as if she was having trouble following her friends' conversation, so perhaps her belligerence is close to self-hatred than anything.
As you can seeAs someone else said, since she internally agrees, it’s inaccurate.
this is just a bad decision.
it really isn't outside Tumbler and Twitter vocal minorities pretending it is. It just is a synonym for "stupid", "idiotic", "foolish", etc especially here in Canada, my friend's home country of Australia, and its neighboring New Zealand. The only time I've ever seen anyone consider it is a slur is in the US.“Re****ed” is a slur in most English-speaking countries for people with intellectual or developmental disabilities. It’s generally only used for describing biological phenomena like stunted growth or spread of something.
in the UK “sp***ic” is similar. Here in the US it’s not used that way, but just for muscular twitching or being way too hyped up.
Yeah, just say she’s fucking stupid, a dipshit, a nitwit, a moron…As you can see
She just called her "stupid" in a really rude way. I get that "stupid" alone doesn't convey what the text was going for, but there are way better choices than what it was used here.
