Bruh, why is the queen so dumb? Obviously og pryde bullied her sister bc she was envious of the love her sister had received. Also she’s already going through the studies and all that to become queen since a young age. Idk old pryde’s behavior seemed to be behaviors based off neglection... especially since they seemed to get worst when the only parental figure who loved her died.

@Lo0py It sorta makes sense if she views the future as immutable. She's going wtf right now since there's suddenly evidence that it isn't. Still a prime jackass move right there to get herself locked into a self fulfilling prophecy.

i’m so mad i can’t help but drop another comment. i refuse to recognize the fact that the queen “loves” Pryde. she neglected her so much that Pryde doesn’t even SEE her mother outside of FORMAL events. and guess what? Tiara lives with the queen 24/7 and always gets doted on. ughhhhhh i just- i cant. i can’t right now.

Damn. She knew what will happen to Pryde in the future and she'd done nothing to avoid or help her daughter change the outcomes. Also, the indifference she treats Pryde as a child, no wonder she gets jealous. What a horrible mother. I don't like her. asdfghjk!!!!!

Thank you translator-sama for all your hard work and wonderful translations 😭 I love this series.

Oh and yeah, the queen is terrible.

Who actually decides to withdraw their attention and love from their child because they are worried how they would turn out? That’s the exact opposite of what you should do.

I really dislike people like the queen, though she's an interesting character. Hopefully she'll try to connect with Pryde and Pryde will just push her off, as the queen deserves. I would be okay with a long redemption arc, but you don't get to wipe the slate clean when it comes to being a horrid parent. Pryde becoming a bad queen was also a self fulfilling prophecy, as without the queens distance and refusal to teach her the responsibilites of rule Pryde was set up to be a bad person. There's actual historical precedent for that very thing. In the Roman Empire, Domitian was the badly treated second son of the emperor whose elder brother died months after taking the throne. Domitian turned into a tyrant with a deep hatred of the nobility because of how badly they treated him as a boy.

If the future isn't set in stone and you can see it then fucking work to move it towards a better future rather than just accepting the shitty one you saw, What's the point of Precognition if you don't use it for the betterment of anyone you useless queen?

@esmee_n101 I assume it's a "a person often meets his destiny on the road he took to avoid it" thing.

Queen assumed that her daughter would become twisted and unfit to rule due to being too spoiled, so she intended to avoid that scenario, while also passing the crown to someone else regardless. As a result, that choice damaged the original Pryde's psyche, resulting in the future she foresaw becoming the reality.

Honestly the queen comes across worse and worse the more you look into it. Because even if you accept her rationale of giving up on her daughter because she'll be a terrible queen and presumably destroy the country and it's people, she takes no actions to prevent her from hurting people in the meantime.

She seemingly expected Stayle to be bullied or traumatized and yet she didn't stop her daughter from getting a brother. She's paralyzed with fear about how much of a tyrant queen her daughter will be but makes no effort to impede her ability to be a tyrannical princess.

And did she even tell anyone besides her husband about the prophecy? Does the PM know? Because he seems awfully comfortable shittalking Pryde in front of the entire royal family and an assorted nobility.

If you don't want your daughter to be a tyrant maybe you should make it harder to be a tyrant in your country. Like why do you even have magical slave contracts?

Isn't the mother's negligence part of the cause the main character's attitude, because her mother denied her the love that she so much needed at a young age causing her to be an irreparable monster. While you can't blame her completely she still is someone who had visions of her daughter yet did nothing to change it. Now she proceeds to act sad of her negligence when she sees she was wrong? Where the hell was she when her daughter was growing arrogant alone in her home with no one to guide o yes she was staying in the castle believing her vision where set in stone when the only thing that carved the stone in the first place was herself when she decided to give up on her child.

I think the queen foresaw that pryde would become a terrible queen but didn't see all the details, like how the dad died & made her worse, & how her neglect would make pryde so jealous of stan, who had his mom's full love & attention, that she would make him kill his own mom. And that probably set her on the road of no return.

truly a self-fulfilling prophecy, cuz if pryde hadn't been so neglected she probably would've turned out much better, at least not kill other people's moms kind of bad.

@nogoodimaginativename It's not really a surprise; but serial killers usually have shitty childhood and shitty family upbringing. Either one of the parent is neglectful or physically abusive, or could be both.

Yes, og Pryde was probably, truly an irredeemable monster. Maybe that's just her nature was, but her environment also helped nurturing her into such a horrible person.

Huh the WN actually portray the queen even worse. The manga feels like it tone the scene down a bit. Still, she's a terrible mother, no wonder the original Pryde acted so horribly when her mother doesn't bother interacting with her at all and her father dies at a young age.

I dislike the mom but absolutely adore the relationship the parents have , it's very obvious how much her dad's death screwed original pryde tho not nearly as much as her mom straight up neglecting her.

some people already said this but i'll say this again anyway.

yes, the mom is bad. but she doesn't mean to be that way. here's the chronological order to make it easier

1. she spoil pryde rotten
2. she got a precog about tyrant pryde
3. let's be honest, even IRL there's plenty of spoiled bitch. and because queeny is already spoiling pryde, it's logical to think that the tyrant pryde comes from too much spoiling.
4. because she, according to novel, 'have too much love', she can't be around pryde, lest she'll go to idiot-mother mode.

i really think she did what she believe is best for all. sure the result is bad, but with the circumstances, not much she could do about it.

I wanted to go read the novel but it seems the novel translations are up to here too if this is chapter 18 of the WN. So no point in going really.

@Air203776 In her defence Pryde was quite a fucked up person even for a neglected child. But yea, as she said, she's a failure of a parent. And as a non-favourite child myself I already hate her a lot.
