I dunno, she seems to be pretty straightforward if you ignore the MC's insecurities. All the manipulative stuff seems to be imagined by him. Amatella on the other hand is a straight up walking red flag, gave me flashbacks to one of my relationships in college.

See I don’t really consider what main girl’s doing as manipulating. Like if you just look at her actions and words separate from his inner thoughts it really does just seem like she likes him and wants to date him, nothing really toxic or shady going on. I wouldn’t consider her any more manipulative than any other person who wants to appeal to a person they’re interested in. Hell even the comment about liking virgins reads more as flubbed reassurance than anything.

The framing of the story is the only thing that makes her seem sketchy, where as otaku girl has basically stalked the dudes socials, snuck around his place to see who’s coming and going, used her patheticness to coax him yo do things he didn’t want, and constantly stated that without him she would have no one to make him feel guilty. She’s obsessed with him to an unhealthy degree. The only reason he didn’t put his foot down after deciding to pursue main girl is because she started to despair spiral in a deeply concerning way, forcing his hand.

In contrast main girl likes that they share similar tastes in books and movies, thinks he’s cute, and enjoys spending time with him.

I mean a lot of NTR stuff is basically that? The wife is unsatisfied, but instead of talking to the hubby - goes out and cheats on him, or a couple of people are in love with/crush on each other, but they don't tell themselves that till a "big-dicus" comes in and steals the girl, etc.

This MC just like reeks of some of those MCs I stumbled upon - cause I don't really ban/block tags, so sometimes I will skim through an NTR out of curiosity what type of idiocy it is if I already opened it in the new tab .

And the story I mentioned is basically an NTR only cause author sprinkled it with it to cash on popularity of said tag - and the MC in it is like a copy of MC in this manga - bashing himself in his thoughts 24/7. At least this one still has a chance - he didn't sink deep enough into his self-loathing yet.

Ehh. Like I said above - I don't block tags so I sometimes read skim through if I already opened one and the art style didn't repulse me instantly. So I have a bit of an opinions/stuff about it - not just outright hate it without ever reading/touching it.

Not really much nuance to just remembering like 1 manga among 1000s that are there, only cause my brain is wired weird and I remember it well after 4+ years since I read it.

The fan has some massive parasocial issues with him. He's also a massive pussy and the other girl, well she's as normal as normal goes in this manga.

Because manga of this type are aimed towards teenager or even adults pretty much are like the MC, shut-ins or those that are seen as "outcasts". This way, they can self-insert into the manga and imagine they are the MC and girls are throwing themselves at them because they're "nice guys". Reality, of course, is much different and so these manga serve as a method of escapism. It's why the MC is pretty much always some average guy with average looks, never had a gf, has a weird/cringe hobby, often has friends that are uglier than him to make him stand out and the girls fall for him because he's "not like other guys" or he was kind to them once 5 years ago, shit like that. This is pretty much the standard for shonen romances.

Its just my issue - I don't really pay attention to tags/stuff then get annoyed when I read the things I dislike. And as my brain loves to make me do stuff that wastes my time - opening lots of stuff to read/watch from recommended spots and then stumbling upon meh things is just a part of my course if you will.

Could say I got lucky that among like 100s of the bad things I skimmed through, I found like 1-2 that even thou marked with the bad tag - were still quite fine to the point I liked them. Still 900s more were skipped.
