HE IS THE ISSUE NOT AZUSA, END OF STORY

People are "spamming" the same thing cause YOU fail to understand something so simple, this is a you problem

If you're not gonna bother to full grasp what you're reading, then don't bother making stupid comments cause this is the exact response you'll just get hit with
Very mature response. I've given you reasoning and examples, you just cut the discussion short. Have it your way then, I see no point in continuing to argue with a person like you.

Your other comment takes a single quote massively out of context and ignores everything that was said before it. You have yet to give any examples of actual manipulative behaviour.
If you think it was taken out of context then that's on you, yet you conveniently dismissed her comment from ch.20. Still if that's not convinicing, then you can look at what happens in later chapters:
  • she clings to him and wants to go to a love hotel with him (a person she just met). She says she hasn't been in a place like that before but that might as well be a lie (especially considering the other example I've given from ch.20)
  • she takes his phone while hugging and adds herself to his contacts (tf??? to reiterate, she just met him for the first time)
  • later waits for him to start the convo
  • when they finally set a date she tells him to "be a good boy and wait for her"

To me, she reeks of red flags. She's always full-on bravado and smiles, never being self-conscious of herself (almost as if treating it like a game, no?) and she seems fake to me because of it.
Also, how many more of these suspicious "out of context" lines do you need to be convinced?

It was objectively taken out of context. You removed all of the preceeding conversation just to present the one part you posted in as bad a light as possible. That is called removing context. And if you actually read my first reply, then you'd notice that I did give some broad reasoning for her behaviour - but I guess replying to the post that actually addresses your example wouldn't be convenient for you, given that you have no actual argument.

To me, it seems like shes acting forward because she is actually interested in the MC, and knows that he's not going to do anything so she has to be the one to make a move - especially seeing how she always seems to back off when he gets visibly uncomfortable.
To me, she reeks of red flags.
Then I'm sorry but you've never seen an actual red flag.
She's always full-on bravado and smiles, never being self-conscious of herself
Damn, you must be some sort of turbo-genius to be able to tell exactly what's going on inside a character's head whose perspective we have never seen. Firstly, that means nothing, and acting that way is often because of some insecurities or self-consciousness. Secondly, we're seeing this manga entirely from the point of view of the MC. Given how he sees himself, it's not exactly a stretch to think that he would see somebody showing genuine interest as just messing with him.
Also, how many more of these suspicious "out of context" lines do you need to be convinced?
How about you give a single actual example - with context - that can't be explained by what I've already said? You still haven't done that, you just keep harping on about the same shit and ignoring the actual counterpoints.

[*]she clings to him and wants to go to a love hotel with him (a person she just met). She says she hasn't been in a place like that before but that might as well be a lie (especially considering the other example I've given from ch.20)

She clings to him as a result of his clear self-doubt and in response to him saying that he wants to walk her to the station to make up for how disappointing he is. Her doing that is a clear communication that she doesn't find him distasteful and instead wants to be near him. They end up in a hotel district because he wants to spend more time with her so he tries to take a detour. She laughs about it and asks him where he was taking her, and then says in response that she's never been down this street either. She floats the idea of going into a hotel as a field trip, but when he says she should value herself more, she says she's happy she met him and wraps herself around him again, saying that they should head back.

If you wanna characterize her as a manipulative slutty virgin hunter, the fact that she pulled back when he showed signs of discomfort invalidates this characterization. Nor does she say she's a virgin or unfamiliar with the idea of love hotels, but instead that she isn't familiar with that street.

[*]she takes his phone while hugging and adds herself to his contacts (tf??? to reiterate, she just met him for the first time)

At the station, after watching the guy take a detour to a love hotel district and it being clear that he only did that because he didn't know the area but wanted to not go straight to the station, she says "we're here already," asks him if he's going the same way she is, hears him talk, again, about how he's sorry that she had to stay out late cause of him. She responds by saying she had a good time and that she's interested in him even more now. She reaches into his pocket and pulls out his phone to put it in his hand, and says that if he wants to meet her again, he should feel free to contact her. She didn't add herself to his contacts, she was already in there. This is how they arranged to meet. They have met for the first time in person, but know each other from online conversations and text messages between them.

If you want to characterize her as pushy and forcing herself onto him, her action doesn't actually cross any boundaries or place herself anywhere new in his life or contacts. It's better read as a reminder of their already existing connection and encouragement to use it whenever he wants.

[*]later waits for him to start the convo

After coming on super strong to someone who seemed to resist the idea, she waits to see if he's actually interested enough to respond. This is... the right thing to do. She doesn't actually know if he'd want to meet her again, even though she was very clear about how much she liked spending time with him and how she'd like to do it more. So instead of pushing it, she waits to see if he'll respond and indicate that he's interested. You see her in the bath happy that he does, and again almost looking lovestruck when she's at the gym and gets his messages.

If you want to characterize her as being manipulative and going quiet after the date to force him to follow up, that's actually what he does because he's too nervous. She made it very clear that she wants to see him again. It's up to him to show interest in continuing to meet her.

[*]when they finally set a date she tells him to "be a good boy and wait for her"

Ten days later she hasn't heard from him because he's still in his head about how she actually didn't have a good time and would never come out again if he asked. He wants to, but he can't think of a good reason to talk to her and "wanting to talk to her" isn't a good enough excuse for him. He watches her socials and notices that she liked a post about a movie premiere that's coming up this weekend, so he invites her to that. She's happy to receive the message, we literally watch her get it and it's the gym shot I talked about up there, but has to decline because she has plans with someone else the upcoming weekend. Before you go AH HA, remember that this was the 'meeting her brother' subplot, where her brother almost got stabbed, apparently again, and they met up.

But, he doesn't know that yet. So he sees it as a dodge. He reads it, looks at it a long time, decides that she clearly doesn't want to see him, and is GOING to delete it until she calls. Where she says she wants to meet him next week, and we can literally watch him start to melt as she talks in his ear. She ends the call with that line, but it's clearly a sexy delivery, and we see her blushing and smiling at the phone after she hangs up, saying 'how cute.' Almost like she finds him really cute or something.

If you want to characterize her as being demanding and manipulative, this is after she already asked if he wanted to see her again and got a non-answer, then asked if seeing the movie next week is okay, and after she didn't hear from him in 10 days. If anything, it's an attempt to keep his interest when she knows she won't see him for a while and hasn't heard from him in a bit.

Also, how many more of these suspicious "out of context" lines do you need to be convinced?

You keep fuckin' striking out here dawg, so... gotta do better.

Obviously he rejected her, but... He also confessed to her that she loves Azusa, character development? Now time to say that to Azusa.

Ngl idk how you can type all of this up, but I did read to the end, and this was a 10/10 breakdown on the whole situation with Azusa

People really need to stop thinking she's being manipulative or just stringing him along when from the very beginning that was all MC's delusions, he's the one creating all of these scenarios in his head and doesn't even bother talking to her about it, this 100% all on MC and I hate him so much for it, he's a massive coward and doesn't deserve someone like Azusa especially with the way he thinks about her from time to time

Excellent breakdown, and saved me from going back and reading the chapters in question to get the context that @gameforcer very predictably left out lol.

There's really no point trying to convince him, just look at his reactions in this thread lol. Unfortunately some people will never be convinced until they experience it for themselves.

Not saying it's the case here, but people with little or no relationship experience often romanticise the whole overly attached personality that Amatella displays, without realising how unhealthy it actually is.

Edit: aaand there's the dumb reaction, like clockwork lmao. @TheMather1 you seem to feel very strongly about this, so why not actually explain why you disagree? If you have an actual argument, that is - which I assume you don't.

@TheMather1 you can dumb react all you want, doesn't change the fact that you seriously lack social experience, until you do, keep whatever opinion you have to yourself, you'd save yourself from looking even more dumber than you already are lmao

You spend enough time writing things that have to be long and you end up writing things that are long all the time.

The reason I'm so invested in this, though, is because I have seen an actual, visible degradation in the coolness of dudes while this manga has gone on. When the manga first hit, people were mostly waiting for the other shoe to drop because of the author's history and because Azusa just seemed too good to be true. Hot, assertive, cute, playful... the reactions of the community mirrored Fumi's. "She is too good what the fuck is happening."

But now, her acting like a god damn dream girl for a shy nerd isn't suspicious because she's acting like a god damn dream girl for a shy nerd, it's because that stuff is actually bad. She just met the guy and she's wrapping herself around his arm?!?!? She waits for HIM to contact HER? She has the AUDACITY to whisper into his ear that he is a GOOD BOY and should WAIT FOR HER?

Like what the fuck, man. It's been this slow "no what are you people talking about what" feeling. Where the whole virgin thing ended up bringing out dudes who go 'well actually he's right to be disgusted by someone who's had sex with someone else, can't judge that, it's like being gay' and 'she's a slutty hag man, good for a one night stand or whatever' and just Jesus Christ. Where are all these reprobates coming from? Take the internet away from them it's not doing them any good and it's just making life here worse.

Excellent breakdown, and saved me from going back and reading the chapters in question to get the context that gameforcer very predictably left out lol.

Thing is man, while you see this as an inherently bad faith take that he's doing, I just think some dudes just aren't cool enough to be allowed out in public. The reaction to the first few chapters was very much, at the time, saying that she was just too good and it was tragic that the guy can't even have fun that its happening because he's too afraid of it ending. But I think there's dudes out there now who see a confident, hot, assertive woman taking a hammer to a shy nerd's shell and think "god what a slutty bitch" and this is just the world we live in.

If only the roles were reversed.
Bad boy and shy girl instead of bad girl and shy boy
Then see on how clitche everything would have been

Sounds like you're the one seething that your trash waifu is being called out as a manipulative bitch.
Lmfao why would I be mad over your own delusions? It's hilarious how you have shit to say about something you have zero experience with, aka women

Bro you're legitimately embarrassing yourself at this point, oh and you're the one dumb reacting every comment that actually counters your point, aka the people who actually socialize with others

That's your own problem if you've never had any real human interactions outside of the Internet, don't sit there trying to project your lack of social experience onto us, dumbass

Bro she's an even bigger red flag than what people think of Azusa

Unless you just want MC to suffer, if that's the case then I'm all for that, that piece of shit deserves it

She's a normal kid, an introvert, geek, and nerd. Totally matched with MC who also happened to be same category even though he tries to forget his embarrassing past as novel author, but he's still otaku.

Azusa is okay, but she's from totally different world, out of grasp of our MC.

You also commented
"HE IS THE ISSUE NOT AZUSA, END OF STORY"
Then, get him away from azusa, he's the problem right?, match him with amatella, a perfect match, a problematic MC and a Red flag girl.

And last thing, when I said "I love Apple," it doesn't mean I hate other fruits and assume all fruit other than apple is trash, that's a totally different sentence. When I said I love amatella that's the only ans whole point, I don't trashing other woman or whatnot, it's matter of preference.

I really don't understand you logic here, you hate MC for being trash, but doesn't want him to separate with azusa who you deemed "Innocent Girls," then gave MC a perfect matchup, Trash MC and Gigantus largus Red Flag Girl, Amatella, Problem clear.
