The worst villain in this one has to be the Duke, who for some godforsaken reason decided to allow his step-daughter to pull this shit off rather than helping his blood-related daughter. If they were half-sisters I would've bought it more. Maybe the stepmother provoked the situation, but she wasn't even mentioned in the chapter, so who the hell knows what her involvement was.
Yeah, it's pretty rare for this type of guy in villaness stories to admit they were wrong, execute the actual wrongdoers and not even beg to get remarried.I kinda feel bad for Kaizen, cause he's more or less being fooled, lied, and used.
But at least after being called out on page 27 he start to accept his own mistake, and own it.
In the end his action also more or less help Meylin clearing her accusation.
Well you have consider what the answers to the questions were doing to the Kingdom at large, people rallied around the Stepsister and the Prince because Maylin was a supposed villainess. So for it to be revealed later on that Maylin is not only innocent but was a victim of said Stepsister(who was their Kingdom's Saintess to boot!), and STILL purified your lands, if she wasn't executed there would have been a coup to oust the Royal family. It's extremely telling that the Prince took his child and left, and made no attempts to argue for her life to be spared.Damn. Did they really need to kill the stepsister for this? Poor kid is gonna grow up without a mother. (Though I guess being raised by that monster would have fucked them up even more.)
