The weakness in this story is that with a perfect lie detector, all they really had to do is submit any initial testimony to the same scrutiny.

For any crime whose punishment is above a certain threshold, allow the accused to defend themselves before God, with a massive increase in penalty if they are found lying.

"I am innocent of the charges leveled against me"

"TRUE"

Boom. Problem solved.
The fake can just manipulate the prince to denied the right of the detector. By saying she want to spare the humiliation to her sister or that she is afraid for her own security.

Man, when did the Tragic Heroine turned into villainess. Then again, most of the chapters here are as such. :pacman:

Wow. This might be my favorite one. It’s just a single chapter but they managed to spin out a story beautifully with incredible pacing. Nothing felt rushed or out of place. It felt like an old parable

Damn. Did they really need to kill the stepsister for this? Poor kid is gonna grow up without a mother. (Though I guess being raised by that monster would have fucked them up even more.)
Agreed, it's like a catch 22 to execute them but it's also like...they did genuinely commit lese majesty, falsification, likely blackmail and extortion for the servants and classmates...and lost the country an incredibly powerful figure to a rival country. And worse of all nearly lead to the destruction of the country BC of that.

I do feel very bad for that child though. It'd be rough to grow up knowing your mum & maternal family was executed or exiled for a long con to place a queen on the throne and a child ready to be influenced.

Hope the ex prince takes well to being a single dad for the kiddos sake.

So many questions left unanswered. MC’s mom dying young seems really sus.

At least the prince is upstanding guy who did it for his people. The history of the MC’s family I wish was revealed what the actual truth is.

EVEN DURING HER DEATH SENTENCES AND EXECUTION this bitch still smiles knowing she fucked up so many lives and people thinking she stand on top
she may had won the battle, but definitely lost the war

This story was peak fiction. The child growing up without his mom can seem hard for him, but being raised by a wicked being like her would have not been good for him anyway. Thanks for the tl

I wouldn't say that panel is Yumia "smiling". I think this is more of the angry face and she's clenching her teeth...Something akin to "Do you know who I am?! I am the Crown Princess and the Saintess! I gave birth to the next KING!"

_______________

But, on the whole, I agree with everyone. This was my favorite chapter of the volume. It would have been so easy for Meylin to use the Perfect Lie Detector as a way to clear her name, but, the Kingdom would have claimed that it was somehow false. This way perfectly revealed everything, and since Meylin wasn't the one writing the answers down, she could claim the results weren't fabricated.

Kind of sad that her nephew/niece will grow up without a mother, but, the alternative would be to grow up around a green tea woman like Yumia.

This is one of the few that feels like it could actually be a fairy tail. Absolutely love the heck out of it.

It’s unlikely that the prince and his child became commoners or anything

Probably a high rank noble at the very least. Just that He and his family line can no longer be royalty

Of course if it was a situation like King of Thrones loves doing then there will probably problems further down the line

This was definitely the strongest story of the volume. Loved the slow reveal and the prince s breakdown ad he learned the truth.

I kinda feel bad for Kaizen, cause he's more or less being fooled, lied, and used.
But at least after being called out on page 27 he start to accept his own mistake, and own it.
In the end his action also more or less help Meylin clearing her accusation.
Yeah but he clearly did no research into those accusations against his wife since nobody actually saw her doing the crimes. He could’ve figured it out on his own if he tried but he didn’t care about his fiancé enough to do that.

Damn. Did they really need to kill the stepsister for this? Poor kid is gonna grow up without a mother. (Though I guess being raised by that monster would have fucked them up even more.)
That’s actually kinda surprising since she was the only one in that country with purification magic. But I guess it’d be an international incident if they let her live given her crimes

pretty sure the image itself was transparent and clear, she and the count are hand tied and waiting execution, seeing count reaction distorted while waiting his death,
she's literally smiling there, look at the eye brow, theres no sweat either, she's calm and collected, looking evil and smirking
there's no frown, bitter anger, or etc, she is facing her death with pride thinking its all worth it despite she's being put to death,
If you read the flashback it is shown she's very psycho and sadistic, all the torment she did it herself, Im sure the king even told her what would happen to their child, and he's stepping down and even then she would still smile and smirking like this, and the truth is plain and simple.

some people are just that fucked up
some people are just that evil
some people just want to watch the world burn
Just look at Cersei Lannister from GoT, she is that sick, evil and psycho down to her last moment, thats just how Yumia is, her pride and is ego in the orbit to show distress, regrets or panic even in her last moment before her death

Kind of sad that her nephew/niece will grow up without a mother, but, the alternative would be to grow up around a green tea woman like Yumia.

Dont be, it is only shown the royal title and status is stripped from the kid, and the king renounce his claim as king, they can still be a noble status family like count, earl or baron. Stripped but never barred or exiled, meaning one day they can reclaim it, albeit royal marriage with different country princess or work their ass off to show they deserve it.
Nevertheless, even as commoner it wont be as bad because that just mean they either will struggle financially and thats it, they wont be harassed and torment by their people in their surrounding like our Saint FMC had, called filthy rat, eating mouldy bread and rancid soup and torture.
Its his only way to atone his sins for exiling an innocent Saint from his country. HELL he'll prob be a god tier daddy to make sure their child doesnt grow up like his/her evil mother, and he'll damn make sure of that.

Nope... not a single bit... because of the same mechanism that it is used here, they have a godly lie detector... mind you, anyone could just go and write "X did Y" and then look if the paper burns, sure the results are announced to everyone, but if we talk about the next queen... it would be even like a reaffirmation, to show that the gods where witness of her hardships.

And the fools did nothing of that sort... nope nope nope, everyone in the known world just got to hear that your kingdom just threw the next saintess to be monster chow while glorifying the ones that made her existence a constant torture. That goes beyond a simple PR disaster, I´m actually surprised that the heads rolling are so few and the prince got to stay free.

I actually really liked this Villainess, but the godly lie detector is a bit unnecessary, since the prince found everything easily, the condition for the purification would have been to just make everything public... but i guess is more of a way to make the story more compact so as to not waste much time assuring the veracity of the answers

yep, in the flashback when the church found her at the edge of kingdom, she was very malnourished, skeleton skinny, took them long time to nurse her back to full health. That itself is prob on Kaizen's fault, he prob had her locked up and prison , underfed while sending her to exile, doesnt change the fact he sinned against the real true saint.

Normally, these "the villainess was the real saintess" plots are kinda my least favorite villainess plot. But boy howdy that was a very satisfying execution of justice. The prince fell for that trap about as easily as he fell for the family's lies, I guess. And sis shoulda just purified the kingdom despite recently given birth.

A magic lie detector like that feels kinda odd, but you gotta throw in some conveniences to get the plot going. The bigger one is that I suspect nobody could survive for long on only moldy bread and rancid soup. I'm not sure there's even any nutritional value in it.

Jude was kinda just a grumpy guard dog.

Also, what was that red mark around the prince's neck in the middle?
