Yeah legally it would've been difficult, but imo should've been acknowledged and ignored as clearly since chapter 1 it's a matter of life and death regardless of legality (if for whatever reason doing things by the law leads to her suicide... Then clearly some thinking needs to be done)

The law doesn't care about anyone. It's just ink on paper, or rather bits in computer memory these days. If you need to break the law to save someone important to you, then you break the law. Worry about the possible consequences later. In any case laws in developed countries are meant to keep people and property safe and sound, so worrying about that is not a huge priority.

Hmm talking about law is somewhat complicated and how I see it, it's not really about if the law cares about anyone. It's more about what's in the best interest of the child and that might mean being with their parents even if the child didn't want to. Removing a child from a parent is incredibly difficult (in America afaik) because you have a very high bar to set to show that abuse is happening and you have to weigh the pros and cons of having them in the house vs being an orphan.

When it comes to the manga though it's going to be INCREDIBLY difficult for the father to even sue or get the police involved because she left of her own volition. He wasn't holding her hostage and even has witnesses that she left the apartment on her own. She had every opportunity to leave and hell even after this whole fiasco she could run right back to him but it would only be a matter of time before something bad happened. What should've happened is that she needed to go to the police to file a report on an physical abuse case from those bruises she got and maybe a lawyer who could take it pro bono to have it on file to build a case.
