Door C: small annotation in "aside"-type font next to the original SFX, usually. Preserves the original art while also providing the reader the context of what kind of sound they're "hearing." Even if you were to use a matching font like SS Cryptid or something in this case, it's hard to match the angularity of the original drawing.

But... I don't think there's a wrong answer, though. Translation is adaptation. This isn't just "the English version of that manga," it's inevitably "YOUR vision of the English version of that manga." Derivative though it may be, it's still art. There are some series where I feel like fully localized SFX are totally the right decision.

Thankfully, your readers won't have the original to A/B compare with, so unless you goof real hard, nobody's going to come after you with pitchforks. Just my take.
Hey, my 1,000th post. Fitting, I guess.

Something is going to beat alright in Onee-chan's room very soon, and it will not be the heart... :meguusmug:

Having SFX translated is better option usually, as I know what is happening in background.

nah og sfx allllllll the way... Jojos "gogogogo" or the "zawazawa" from ultimate survivor are way more iconic than "menacing". its just not the same. it gives the page so much more personality

Definitely prefer the thump thump. Without the context on the next page I had literally no idea what it was supposed to mean

personally, i prefer the untranslated one. if it's translated, just make sure it's not over the bubble like the one in the example

I'd rather have the "thump" localized if there's an equivalent meaning in English... otherwise, "thump" is fine with some TL notes. Context clues can give me some indication of what they may be feeling when untranslated, but I don't get the actual meaning behind it.

The localized sfx with TL notes at the end would be really good as the original sfx keeps the feeling of the panel

Localisation is better, weebs can get fucked. But tbh that comparison should have been posted here, not on the actual chapter...

either a little note on the same page or replacing the sfx is good. depends on the manga I guess. some have sounds effects all the time everywhere and it would just look cringe translating every mundane thing, kind of breaks the immersion. but a note isn't in the way in the same way I think.

I usually don't care about sfx, but here it was hard to tell what was happening with them being translated
