It's weird how far the manga is behind the anime, it really goes into every single detail. I didn't check if there is a novel yet, hm.
I recommend skipping the novel. It's... an info dump. And half of that info dump is Kuzunoha's allies praising and worshipping him. The other half is his enemy being scared of him, so basically praising him in a backwards manner. The novel would go on multiple chapters where nothing gets done, sometimes repeating the same information we already know from a different perspective.

The manga is the right balance between detail and plot advancement.

At least if I remember it correctly. It's been awhile since I dropped the translated web novel. I do remember being frustrated with it, though.

there’s a novel yeah, that and a monthly release schedule makes it feel like its doomed to trail behind its anime counterpart (which is also good, if lacking the same level of detail)
Translated LN: Looks like end of S2 of anime corresponds to vol 10 of LN. Vol 11 is out. vol 12 out this month. Vol 13 out in Feb.

Vs. Manga, there doesn't look like a lot of new info vs the manga, but there is some. And as noted above, the (translated) LN eventually pulls ahead.

It's better than Reincarnated as Slime LN! ... Okay that's not saying much, since Slime LN degenerates into (boring, stupid) corporate meeting notes much of the time.

The manga is the right balance between detail and plot advancement.
I wouldn't disagree with this. Though again, with Slime, I ended up skimming whole chapters (a huge rarity for me), but I don't do that for Tsukimichi.

That's probably part of the problem. Above, I'm talking about the translated LN. Previously, I tried wading through the unofficial translated WN and gave up pretty quickly.

If someone had to pick one or the other between LN and manga, I would advise picking manga.

The inevitable downside of a season-based anime planning over a more permanent/large-scale plan; you want to cram as much content as reasonably possible over a season because there’s a distinct possibility that there won’t be another season despite the popularity; Overlord and Isekai Smartphone has the same issue, and Youjo Senki basically shot its own foot twice by expecting the anime to fail by actually making decisions that would fail the anime itself (especially compared to the manga).

Compare with Black Clover, which benefited from the anime since they actually added more content to the existing than the original manga (we’re not counting One Piece and its multitude of non-canonical fillers/sidearcs/movies).

This started as a WN, then LN, then manga.

Animes also generally cut off a lot of secondary details.

I used to say that if you want the world building, check the novel, if you want glorious screenshot, the manga, and the action/music the anime.
Used to, until I saw powerpoint man.

Its sad that its this way though. As its not always for lack of trying for the anime studios.
But i dont completely agree with your view on manga vs the other 2. With the exception of the music part manga can at times be the best of both worlds. Giving you nice visuals and world building when done correctly. and in some cases ad even more to the world.(Ascendence of a bookworm does this in the Manga)

Youjo Senki is very weird it think its the only serie i know of where each version is almost like its own universe that just happen to follow a similar idea.
This is best seen when looking at the main char. and also why poeple from each version kinda view her/him so different.
I do in part feel like the blame for most of that though lies with the author of the novel. Who from what i have hears loves the anime but hated the manga until he heard the manga was selling well.

Page 17: Sinai said "I will excuse myself", after he parted ways with Shiki and Kuzunoha, and while entering the room to have an audience with the Bishop.

Should that not have been a simple "Excuse me"?

This bishop and the staff in her faction seem to be quite competent. I wonder how she ended up being appointed, and how while newly appointed she's already gathered some competent staff, and I also wonder who the other factions are who would be able to get in her way. I guess we'll see through the world building at some point.

Since the attire appears to be chosen by the person themselves, I guess that the bishop is wearing that veil by choice rather than because it's part of a bishop's attire, and I guess it's to hide that scar which we only saw in that one frame. It's a bit surprising that someone who has been disfigured in the face is in a high position for the church of that goddess, but then again, the object of their worship is described differently than how the goddess actually is, so it makes sense that a scar would not be too much of an impediment for someone who has the necessary skills to navigate the politics of the church and rise through the ranks.

It's a bit weird that the priest introduced himself to Kuzunoha with the request of the "old geezers" but he's apparently not a part of their faction and is instead in the bishop's faction. I guess it makes sense that Kuzunoha was directed to the bishop rather than the "old geezers", whoever they are, since they request was flatly rejected. Still, they can't be too happy about it though so I'd expect some movement from their side, though it seems they've done nothing for now.

Then you have Iruma, where I wish they would cut more since they have so much to catch up on. Hell, the show added songs to pad out the run time, padding that is very much not needed.

Holy shit, a side character taking a mind-altering drug in a manga that actually realizes it themselves, without the MC having to do it for them? What a twist.

Bet the scarred priestess lady will eventually be healed by Kuzunoha, potentially after her face gets revealed and she loses her position due to people freaking out about ugliness.
