Isn't he supposed to be ugly in the eyes of the hyumans, as he's lacking the goddess's blessing? I reckon a part of the twins' misjudgement is due to that. If he looks like a goblin in their eyes, they'd find it more difficult to find empathy in his visage.
The blessing is only language.

Makoto is just has a painfully average face that looks ugly compared to the selectively bred "humans".

Thanks for the chapter!
It's weird how Tomoe just explained how Makoto gets angry about curses and stuff regardless of if it happens to him but then the twins see his face and get the feeling that he doesn't care about anybody else.
I think it makes some sense, in the fact he didn't care that Lime helped with a cursed scheme before.

He doesn't care about the people being cursed or doing the cursing, he cares about the act that there is a curse there. The same with diseases.

Increase his mana???
We've been through this. When he was practicing his archery and spreading his spirit, giving the impression he died, he was already increasing his mana. Why is it coming up now?
(He probably didn't notice since he doesn't really have control of it, but it feels unnecessary high jinks are on the way.)

He wants to increase his mana output and not mana quantity. Currently, he can't use that massive quantity gained from pseudo-death efficiently. It's like scooping a lake using a bottle cap

Ahaha I love that misunderstanding at the end. He is asking a way to USE more mana, Root thinks he is asking to GAIN more mana. That’s a good way to have that be explained in another chapter, giving exposition without it feeling clunky. I like it.

No, in RAW he's just asking "even more magic power? you seriously saying that?" Root got the message just fine, it's just that what Makoto can use is at absurd level already (remember he created a lake before?) that Root is shocked he want to push even further.

The TL over-simplify the line and lost the nuance of it.
The exact line, more literally translated is "He shows absolutely no interest in the opponent before his eyes, that sort of feeling..."
Which refers to assassin-mode Keema/Morris and sort of refers back to when Tomoe recruited Keema, that she (and Morris) had the mindset to be able to even eat next to their victims' family.

So it's not that he doesn't care about anyone else, but more that if he view something as 'enemy' then nothing about them matter he'll only think about how to delete them.
Noble, commoner, rich, poor, hero, villain, etc. doesn't matter, once he get into that mindset you're fucked.
(obviously before he switch into that state he might care about those things)

It's because Makoto has huge attachment having "humanity" because he understands that he has some form of ASP disorder.

Keema and Morris were brought up because in a previous chapter they were stated to be able to murser someone's loved ones, and have dinner right next to the victim as if nothing happened.

Normal people can get PTSD from killing others. Makoto is compared to them because he doesnt actually see people as people.

The lake was the result of Makoto's mana that he used then as well as the 6 or 7 rings that absorbed his mana. This is kind of a good hint of how he will wielded his god like amount of mana pool later on.

He literally doesn't give a shit about the Hyumans, that's why he looks at the girls like they're the contracted labor they are. He only cares about the demi-humans because they're fellow victims of the bitch goddess, and most of all the people under his rule as he sees them as family.

ASP disorder
I'm not sure about this (according to google, someone who manipulate/exploit others, which doesn't really fit Makoto), IIRC, it's more like Makoto is something of a sociopath, he has some lacking in being a normal human (don't form emotional bond in normal way, lacking empathy but can still understand something bad is happening to someone) but because his upbringing was good (taught moral by his mentor IIRC), it mitigated his sociopathy.

I have not re-read the series but i think he was just regular plain looking, then the goddess cursed him to look ugly in eyes of hyumans and to be unable to speak the language, as she didn't want him to "interbreed" with her pretty hyumans.
She never cursed his appearance. Her world just has high standards for beauty and looks. Since basically on the scale of appearance the average is 9, he with his ordinary looks is viewed as ugly.

The only thing she did to him was give the ability to speak on a language of any living being apart of Hyuman.

The reason why he can't physically speak is due to Goddess incompetence. When giving him the ability to speak to any living being she just slightly altered a blessing called "Mastery of Words", which basically allows the person to speak and understand any sound communication in existence. However in full throttle that blessings is not something that a mortal should have as it overloads their brain. He is generally fine as even slightly altered blessings is not that potent. But if he would be able to learn the Common language by itself and speak it, it would complete the blessings. Afaik his inability to pronounce words is basically his brain being unable to proces the information due to an overload.

imagine how those 2 would feel to be compared to makoto. canonically he's apparently so ugly in this world that people think he's a mole beastman, even though he's just average looking on earth.

I think part of it as well is that he cares about people being hurt or preyed on but really takes no interest in individuals. Like he keeps helpful and useful people around him but doesn't actually care about them as individuals or their interests.
