i gonna ask same question. But why the chapter is so short compare to first arc ? it was 40-90 page there
He basically has the same view as she does only for him its a tumor compared to a mismatched button. Only he's wrong this time or she's putting him off so he doesn't go over the line and she can do it herself.
Lol, nope. no he not "wrong" this time. He not right any other time.
What he said is a "figure of speech", he compare the husband to tumor. he just thought it was him, so he chasing him for 13 years, he didn't have super power like her.

The killer is Tani.

Evidence the first: he's watching an idol on his phone and Spica just went to an idol concert, which is the perfect venue for her to surreptitiously touch him, just like she did with the teacher and Mamoru.

Evidence the second: Tani's the donut cook. I've spent enough time in commercial kitchens to know that you can never trust the guy manning the deep fryer.

Thanks for the chapter!

Edit suggestion: @NotsoFps
  • p19 "That exists." -> ? [This sentence seems superfluous among the speech bubbles in this panel.]

It's pretty typical of new manga to have the first couple of chapters to be longer to catch attention and interest. This is probably the most extreme case I've seen though I must admit. And usually the first chapter is longer than the second.
If not longer chapters, they usually release two or three chapters at once.

thanks for the chapter! dang 5 and 8, how tragic. Wonder of Spica wouldn't have 'telekenetic' powers where it'd be reversed to where she can implant visions, assuming the culprit can feel guilt or at least some kinda 'trap' to make him feel paranoid. I imagine it wouldn't be the affair partner at this point if he was also struggling for money unless there was like a 3x payout on life insurance after husband's name was cleared legally, reputation aside

Surprised there wouldn't have been a "you were forced to retire early for excessive force" b/c there's some open secret? about some police officers using violence to force a confession out or so

i don't use ear phones so don't know enough to say it's a red herring but feels like it should be
more 'unique' looking to stand out b/c i imagine there'd be common looks. but at the same time wasn't it a decade ago? other than him sticking to some "old earphones i never bothered upgrading b/c they still work", i would expect it to look a litle bit diff/branding

Probably her co-worker. She didn't join there for nothing
Maybe it's her boss, he mentioned bbq, bbq = fire , clearly he's the arsonist 8D /halfjoking (but that would be hilarious)

(looking up, i found a one piece wiki where they said shaka shaka was an onomatopoeia for whispering but their shounen action powers would prolly be diff from spica's) tho idk how loud a crackling fire would sound like /not sure about the whistling unless he's trying to imitate cicadas.

My prediction is it will be someone from the part time job, that’s why she is working there! But then again she already said all of them are a good people. Hmm…
I mean isn't that something she said to the detective versus it being an internalized thoughts, b/c even if ur willing to talk shit about a coworker, you might say someone's an asshole but unless they're like abusing their power or so, i would think it'd be uncommon for someone to say "X is a bad person" unless she wanted to 'warn' her coworker to be careful lol

You know the drill comment on your prediction on who you think the murderer is!
Reading through the chapters a couples of times, I can't say that I'm entirely sure, but in mystery stories like this there should always be enough clues to figure out who the culprit is. And the culprit should probably be one of the people presented.
I don't think it's the mistress of the husband, because she has an alibi similar to the husband since they were together at the time. And Spica probably would've thought of the husband as a contributer to the murder and guilty since she touched him.
Like others have pointed out, Spica didn't include Meg-san as one of the good people. But this was 13 years ago, she'd be too young to do a murder like this I think. Though of course she can look younger than she is.
Manager likes grilling. And he's a former delinquent. But I don't necessarily think that's a reason for murder.
Tani-san is quiet and uses head phones similar to the perpetrator, but there's really no motive for him. People earlier in the thread commented that he watched idols and that Spica might've touched him and found out about him before, and jobs at the store to find the killer, but she didn't know that the husband wasn't the killer before she touched him I think? So I don't think that is possible.
Fukuda is irritated quickly because of small details. It was noted that there was trouble with the neighbors because of shouting and noise. Could she be living in the same apartment complex? And she was so mad she burned up all of them. It says that the apartment building didn't allow kerosene stoves, but maybe she stole it to burn them from the husband.
I don't think inspector Megure is the culprit. But he does have the line of if someone covered up cases like the Gemini, so maybe a hint that he covered up his own case. Having Okuma as the culprit would be doing the same twist as the previous on, so that's probably not the case, although could be a hint to this too I guess.

I'm not entirely certain, but the Meg-san comment is probably the biggest hint that she's behind it, since she wasn't included in the good people comment and Spica has most likely touched all of them at some point and knows. But I think that the culprit might also be Fukuda because of a lot of the hints might lead up to this, if she lives in the same apartment complex. But that might be a stretch I guess.

At this point I give up on trying to guess, Author really trying to juke us with multiple potential false leads and concealing what Spica knows until the last minute reveal. Not exactly a fair play whodunnit unless I'm missing something, but I'm just along for the ride now instead of trying to solve the mystery.

I'm enjoying the 'cute girl serial killer thriller' series for what it is but in another universe i would totally read some romcom yuri of spica-chan ending up with the idol (tho be hilarious if somehow it got off the rails and someone connected to the idol was the arsonist. i doubt it, but i wouldn't be surprised if the next arc had some 'entertainment' industry flavor to where the higher ups are covering it up because celebs being secretly fucked up is a common theme too)
